[4] يَغفِر لَكُم مِن ذُنوبِكُم وَيُؤَخِّركُم إِلىٰ أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ إِذا جاءَ لا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَو كُنتُم تَعلَمونَ
[4] আল্লাহ তা’আলা তোমাদের পাপসমূহ ক্ষমা করবেন এবং নির্দিষ্ট সময় পর্যন্ত অবকাশ দিবেন। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ তা’আলার নির্দিষ্টকাল যখন হবে, তখন অবকাশ দেয়া হবে না, যদি তোমরা তা জানতে!
[4] “He (Allâh) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allâh when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew.”

[5] قالَ رَبِّ إِنّى دَعَوتُ قَومى لَيلًا وَنَهارًا
[5] সে বললঃ হে আমার পালনকর্তা! আমি আমার সম্প্রদায়কে দিবারাত্রি দাওয়াত দিয়েছি;
[5] He said: “O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islâmic Monotheism) ,

[6] فَلَم يَزِدهُم دُعاءى إِلّا فِرارًا
[6] কিন্তু আমার দাওয়াত তাদের পলায়নকেই বৃদ্ধি করেছে।
[6] “But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth)

[7] وَإِنّى كُلَّما دَعَوتُهُم لِتَغفِرَ لَهُم جَعَلوا أَصٰبِعَهُم فى ءاذانِهِم وَاستَغشَوا ثِيابَهُم وَأَصَرّوا وَاستَكبَرُوا استِكبارًا
[7] আমি যতবারই তাদেরকে দাওয়াত দিয়েছি, যাতে আপনি তাদেরকে ক্ষমা করেন, ততবারই তারা কানে অঙ্গুলি দিয়েছে, মুখমন্ডল বস্ত্রাবৃত করেছে, জেদ করেছে এবং খুব ঔদ্ধত্য প্রদর্শন করেছে।
[7] “And verily, every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride.

[8] ثُمَّ إِنّى دَعَوتُهُم جِهارًا
[8] অতঃপর আমি তাদেরকে প্রকাশ্যে দাওয়াত দিয়েছি,
[8] “Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud);

[9] ثُمَّ إِنّى أَعلَنتُ لَهُم وَأَسرَرتُ لَهُم إِسرارًا
[9] অতঃপর আমি ঘোষণা সহকারে প্রচার করেছি এবং গোপনে চুপিসারে বলেছি।
[9] “Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private,

[10] فَقُلتُ استَغفِروا رَبَّكُم إِنَّهُ كانَ غَفّارًا
[10] অতঃপর বলেছিঃ তোমরা তোমাদের পালনকর্তার ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা কর। তিনি অত্যন্ত ক্ষমাশীল।
[10] “I said (to them): ‘Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving;

[11] يُرسِلِ السَّماءَ عَلَيكُم مِدرارًا
[11] তিনি তোমাদের উপর অজস্র বৃষ্টিধারা ছেড়ে দিবেন,
[11] ‘He will send rain to you in abundance;

[12] وَيُمدِدكُم بِأَموٰلٍ وَبَنينَ وَيَجعَل لَكُم جَنّٰتٍ وَيَجعَل لَكُم أَنهٰرًا
[12] তোমাদের ধন-সম্পদ ও সন্তান-সন্ততি বাড়িয়ে দিবেন, তোমাদের জন্যে উদ্যান স্থাপন করবেন এবং তোমাদের জন্যে নদীনালা প্রবাহিত করবেন।
[12] ‘And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers.’ “

[13] ما لَكُم لا تَرجونَ لِلَّهِ وَقارًا
[13] তোমাদের কি হল যে, তোমরা আল্লাহ তা’আলার শ্রেষ্টত্ব আশা করছ না।
[13] What is the matter with you, that [you fear not Allâh (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allâh or you believe not in His Oneness).

[14] وَقَد خَلَقَكُم أَطوارًا
[14] অথচ তিনি তোমাদেরকে বিভিন্ন রকমে সৃষ্টি করেছেন।
[14] While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then ‘Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV.23:13,14)].

[15] أَلَم تَرَوا كَيفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ سَبعَ سَمٰوٰتٍ طِباقًا
[15] তোমরা কি লক্ষ্য কর না যে, আল্লাহ কিভাবে সপ্ত আকাশ স্তরে স্তরে সৃষ্টি করেছেন।
[15] See you not how Allâh has created the seven heavens one above another,

[16] وَجَعَلَ القَمَرَ فيهِنَّ نورًا وَجَعَلَ الشَّمسَ سِراجًا
[16] এবং সেখানে চন্দ্রকে রেখেছেন আলোরূপে এবং সূর্যকে রেখেছেন প্রদীপরূপে।
[16] And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp?

[17] وَاللَّهُ أَنبَتَكُم مِنَ الأَرضِ نَباتًا
[17] আল্লাহ তা’আলা তোমাদেরকে মৃত্তিকা থেকে উদগত করেছেন।
[17] And Allâh has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. (Tafsir At-Tabarî)

[18] ثُمَّ يُعيدُكُم فيها وَيُخرِجُكُم إِخراجًا
[18] অতঃপর তাতে ফিরিয়ে নিবেন এবং আবার পুনরুত্থিত করবেন।
[18] Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)?

[19] وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الأَرضَ بِساطًا
[19] আল্লাহ তা’আলা তোমাদের জন্যে ভূমিকে করেছেন বিছানা।
[19] And Allâh has made for you the earth a wide expanse.

[20] لِتَسلُكوا مِنها سُبُلًا فِجاجًا
[20] যাতে তোমরা চলাফেরা কর প্রশস্ত পথে।
[20] That you may go about therein in broad roads.

[21] قالَ نوحٌ رَبِّ إِنَّهُم عَصَونى وَاتَّبَعوا مَن لَم يَزِدهُ مالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ إِلّا خَسارًا
[21] নূহ বললঃ হে আমার পালনকর্তা, আমার সম্প্রদায় আমাকে অমান্য করেছে আর অনুসরণ করছে এমন লোককে, যার ধন-সম্পদ ও সন্তান-সন্ততি কেবল তার ক্ষতিই বৃদ্ধি করছে।
[21] Nûh (Noah) said: “My Lord! They have disobeyed me, and followed one whose wealth and children give him no increase but loss.

[22] وَمَكَروا مَكرًا كُبّارًا
[22] আর তারা ভয়ানক চক্রান্ত করছে।
[22] “And they have plotted a mighty plot.

[23] وَقالوا لا تَذَرُنَّ ءالِهَتَكُم وَلا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلا سُواعًا وَلا يَغوثَ وَيَعوقَ وَنَسرًا
[23] তারা বলছেঃ তোমরা তোমাদের উপাস্যদেরকে ত্যাগ করো না এবং ত্যাগ করো না ওয়াদ, সূয়া, ইয়াগুছ, ইয়াউক ও নসরকে।
[23] “And they have said: ‘You shall not leave your gods, nor shall you leave Wadd, nor Suwâ’, nor Yaghûth, nor Ya’ûq, nor Nasr (these are the names of their idols).
