[8] يَومَ تَكونُ السَّماءُ كَالمُهلِ
[8] সেদিন আকাশ হবে গলিত তামার মত।
[8] The Day that the sky will be like the boiling filth of oil, (or molten copper or silver or lead).

[9] وَتَكونُ الجِبالُ كَالعِهنِ
[9] এবং পর্বতসমূহ হবে রঙ্গীন পশমের মত,
[9] And the mountains will be like flakes of wool.

[10] وَلا يَسـَٔلُ حَميمٌ حَميمًا
[10] বন্ধু বন্ধুর খবর নিবে না।
[10] And no friend will ask a friend (about his condition),

[11] يُبَصَّرونَهُم ۚ يَوَدُّ المُجرِمُ لَو يَفتَدى مِن عَذابِ يَومِئِذٍ بِبَنيهِ
[11] যদিও একে অপরকে দেখতে পাবে। সেদিন গোনাহগার ব্যক্তি পনস্বরূপ দিতে চাইবে তার সন্তান-সন্ততিকে,
[11] Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help]. The Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children.

[12] وَصٰحِبَتِهِ وَأَخيهِ
[12] তার স্ত্রীকে, তার ভ্রাতাকে,
[12] And his wife and his brother,

[13] وَفَصيلَتِهِ الَّتى تُـٔويهِ
[13] তার গোষ্ঠীকে, যারা তাকে আশ্রয় দিত।
[13] And his kindred who sheltered him,

[14] وَمَن فِى الأَرضِ جَميعًا ثُمَّ يُنجيهِ
[14] এবং পৃথিবীর সবকিছুকে, অতঃপর নিজেকে রক্ষা করতে চাইবে।
[14] And all that are in the earth, so that it might save him.

[15] كَلّا ۖ إِنَّها لَظىٰ
[15] কখনই নয়। নিশ্চয় এটা লেলিহান অগ্নি।
[15] By no means! Verily, it will be the Fire of Hell!

[16] نَزّاعَةً لِلشَّوىٰ
[16] যা চামড়া তুলে দিবে।
[16] Taking away (burning completely) the head skin!

[17] تَدعوا مَن أَدبَرَ وَتَوَلّىٰ
[17] সে সেই ব্যক্তিকে ডাকবে যে সত্যের প্রতি পৃষ্ঠপ্রদর্শন করেছিল ও বিমুখ হয়েছিল।
[17] Calling (all) such as turn their backs and turn away their faces (from Faith) [picking and swallowing them up from that great gathering of mankind on the Day of Resurrection just as a bird picks up a food-grain from the earth with its beak and swallows it up]. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubî)

[18] وَجَمَعَ فَأَوعىٰ
[18] সম্পদ পুঞ্জীভূত করেছিল, অতঃপর আগলিয়ে রেখেছিল।
[18] And collect (wealth) and hide it (from spending it in the Cause of Allâh).

[19] ۞ إِنَّ الإِنسٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلوعًا
[19] মানুষ তো সৃজিত হয়েছে ভীরুরূপে।
[19] Verily, man (disbeliever) was created very impatient;

[20] إِذا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزوعًا
[20] যখন তাকে অনিষ্ট স্পর্শ করে, তখন সে হা-হুতাশ করে।
[20] Irritable (discontented) when evil touches him;

[21] وَإِذا مَسَّهُ الخَيرُ مَنوعًا
[21] আর যখন কল্যাণপ্রাপ্ত হয়, তখন কৃপণ হয়ে যায়।
[21] And niggardly when good touches him;-

[22] إِلَّا المُصَلّينَ
[22] তবে তারা স্বতন্ত্র, যারা নামায আদায় কারী।
[22] Except those who are devoted to Salât (prayers).

[23] الَّذينَ هُم عَلىٰ صَلاتِهِم دائِمونَ
[23] যারা তাদের নামাযে সার্বক্ষণিক কায়েম থাকে।
[23] Those who remain constant in their Salât (prayers);

[24] وَالَّذينَ فى أَموٰلِهِم حَقٌّ مَعلومٌ
[24] এবং যাদের ধন-সম্পদে নির্ধারিত হক আছে
[24] And those in whose wealth there is a recognised right,

[25] لِلسّائِلِ وَالمَحرومِ
[25] যাঞ্ছাকারী ও বঞ্চিতের
[25] For the beggar who asks, and for the unlucky who has lost his property and wealth, (and his means of living has been straitened);

[26] وَالَّذينَ يُصَدِّقونَ بِيَومِ الدّينِ
[26] এবং যারা প্রতিফল দিবসকে সত্য বলে বিশ্বাস করে।
[26] And those who believe in the Day of Recompense,

[27] وَالَّذينَ هُم مِن عَذابِ رَبِّهِم مُشفِقونَ
[27] এবং যারা তাদের পালনকর্তার শাস্তির সম্পর্কে ভীত-কম্পিত।
[27] And those who fear the torment of their Lord,
