بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

শুরু করছি আল্লাহর নামে যিনি পরম করুণাময়, অতি দয়ালু

[1] وَالسَّماءِ وَالطّارِقِ
[1] শপথ আকাশের এবং রাত্রিতে আগমনকারীর।
[1] By the heaven, and At-Târiq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star);

[2] وَما أَدرىٰكَ مَا الطّارِقُ
[2] আপনি জানেন, যে রাত্রিতে আসে সেটা কি?
[2] And what will make you to know what At-Târiq (night-comer) is?

[3] النَّجمُ الثّاقِبُ
[3] সেটা এক উজ্জ্বল নক্ষত্র।
[3] (It is) the star of piercing brightness;

[4] إِن كُلُّ نَفسٍ لَمّا عَلَيها حافِظٌ
[4] প্রত্যেকের উপর একজন তত্ত্বাবধায়ক রয়েছে।
[4] There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels in charge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds).

[5] فَليَنظُرِ الإِنسٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
[5] অতএব, মানুষের দেখা উচিত কি বস্তু থেকে সে সৃজিত হয়েছে।
[5] So let man see from what he is created!

[6] خُلِقَ مِن ماءٍ دافِقٍ
[6] সে সৃজিত হয়েছে সবেগে স্খলিত পানি থেকে।
[6] He is created from a water gushing forth,

[7] يَخرُجُ مِن بَينِ الصُّلبِ وَالتَّرائِبِ
[7] এটা নির্গত হয় মেরুদন্ড ও বক্ষপাজরের মধ্য থেকে।
[7] Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs,

[8] إِنَّهُ عَلىٰ رَجعِهِ لَقادِرٌ
[8] নিশ্চয় তিনি তাকে ফিরিয়ে নিতে সক্ষম।
[8] Verily, (Allâh) is Able to bring him back (to life)!

[9] يَومَ تُبلَى السَّرائِرُ
[9] যেদিন গোপন বিষয়াদি পরীক্ষিত হবে,
[9] The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth)

[10] فَما لَهُ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلا ناصِرٍ
[10] সেদিন তার কোন শক্তি থাকবে না এবং সাহায্যকারীও থাকবে না।
[10] Then he will have no power, nor any helper.

[11] وَالسَّماءِ ذاتِ الرَّجعِ
[11] শপথ চক্রশীল আকাশের
[11] By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again.

[12] وَالأَرضِ ذاتِ الصَّدعِ
[12] এবং বিদারনশীল পৃথিবীর
[12] And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants),

[13] إِنَّهُ لَقَولٌ فَصلٌ
[13] নিশ্চয় কোরআন সত্য-মিথ্যার ফয়সালা।
[13] Verily, this (the Qur’ân) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil).

[14] وَما هُوَ بِالهَزلِ
[14] এবং এটা উপহাস নয়।
[14] And it is not a thing for amusement.

[15] إِنَّهُم يَكيدونَ كَيدًا
[15] তারা ভীষণ চক্রান্ত করে,
[15] Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (SAW)).

[16] وَأَكيدُ كَيدًا
[16] আর আমিও কৌশল করি।
[16] And I (too) am planning a plan.

[17] فَمَهِّلِ الكٰفِرينَ أَمهِلهُم رُوَيدًا
[17] অতএব, কাফেরদেরকে অবকাশ দিন, তাদেরকে অবকাশ দিন, কিছু দিনের জন্যে।
[17] So give a respite to the disbelievers; deal gently with them for a while.
