بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

শুরু করছি আল্লাহর নামে যিনি পরম করুণাময়, অতি দয়ালু

[1] وَالنَّجمِ إِذا هَوىٰ
[1] নক্ষত্রের কসম, যখন অস্তমিত হয়।
[1] By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes).

[2] ما ضَلَّ صاحِبُكُم وَما غَوىٰ
[2] তোমাদের সংগী পথভ্রষ্ট হননি এবং বিপথগামীও হননি।
[2] Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred.

[3] وَما يَنطِقُ عَنِ الهَوىٰ
[3] এবং প্রবৃত্তির তাড়নায় কথা বলেন না।
[3] Nor does he speak of (his own) desire.

[4] إِن هُوَ إِلّا وَحىٌ يوحىٰ
[4] কোরআন ওহী, যা প্রত্যাদেশ হয়।
[4] It is only a Revelation revealed.

[5] عَلَّمَهُ شَديدُ القُوىٰ
[5] তাঁকে শিক্ষা দান করে এক শক্তিশালী ফেরেশতা,
[5] He has been taught (this Qur’ân) by one mighty in power [Jibril (Gabriel)]

[6] ذو مِرَّةٍ فَاستَوىٰ
[6] সহজাত শক্তিসম্পন্ন, সে নিজ আকৃতিতে প্রকাশ পেল।
[6] One free from any defect in body and mind, then he (Jibril — Gabriel in the real shap as created by Allah) rose and became stable.

[7] وَهُوَ بِالأُفُقِ الأَعلىٰ
[7] উর্ধ্ব দিগন্তে,
[7] While he [Jibril (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon,

[8] ثُمَّ دَنا فَتَدَلّىٰ
[8] অতঃপর নিকটবর্তী হল ও ঝুলে গেল।
[8] Then he [Jibril (Gabriel)] approached and came closer,

[9] فَكانَ قابَ قَوسَينِ أَو أَدنىٰ
[9] তখন দুই ধনুকের ব্যবধান ছিল অথবা আরও কম।
[9] And was at a distance of two bows’ length or (even) nearer,

[10] فَأَوحىٰ إِلىٰ عَبدِهِ ما أَوحىٰ
[10] তখন আল্লাহ তাঁর দাসের প্রতি যা প্রত্যাদেশ করবার, তা প্রত্যাদেশ করলেন।
[10] So (Allâh) revealed to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrail (Gabriel) A.S.] whatever He revealed.

[11] ما كَذَبَ الفُؤادُ ما رَأىٰ
[11] রসূলের অন্তর মিথ্যা বলেনি যা সে দেখেছে।
[11] The (Prophet’s) heart lied not in what he (Muhammad SAW) saw.

[12] أَفَتُمٰرونَهُ عَلىٰ ما يَرىٰ
[12] তোমরা কি বিষয়ে বিতর্ক করবে যা সে দেখেছে?
[12] Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi’râj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW to the seven heavens)]

[13] وَلَقَد رَءاهُ نَزلَةً أُخرىٰ
[13] নিশ্চয় সে তাকে আরেকবার দেখেছিল,
[13] And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibril (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time).

[14] عِندَ سِدرَةِ المُنتَهىٰ
[14] সিদরাতুলমুন্তাহার নিকটে,
[14] Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha (a lote-tree of the utmost boundary over the seventh heaven beyond which none can pass).

[15] عِندَها جَنَّةُ المَأوىٰ
[15] যার কাছে অবস্থিত বসবাসের জান্নাত।
[15] Near it is the Paradise of Abode.

[16] إِذ يَغشَى السِّدرَةَ ما يَغشىٰ
[16] যখন বৃক্ষটি দ্বারা আচ্ছন্ন হওয়ার, তদ্দ্বারা আচ্ছন্ন ছিল।
[16] When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it!

[17] ما زاغَ البَصَرُ وَما طَغىٰ
[17] তাঁর দৃষ্টিবিভ্রম হয় নি এবং সীমালংঘনও করেনি।
[17] The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond the limit (ordained for it).

[18] لَقَد رَأىٰ مِن ءايٰتِ رَبِّهِ الكُبرىٰ
[18] নিশ্চয় সে তার পালনকর্তার মহান নিদর্শনাবলী অবলোকন করেছে।
[18] Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allâh).

[19] أَفَرَءَيتُمُ اللّٰتَ وَالعُزّىٰ
[19] তোমরা কি ভেবে দেখেছ লাত ও ওযযা সম্পর্কে।
[19] Have you then considered Al-Lât, and Al-‘Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs) .

[20] وَمَنوٰةَ الثّالِثَةَ الأُخرىٰ
[20] এবং তৃতীয় আরেকটি মানাত সম্পর্কে?
[20] And Manât (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third?
