بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

শুরু করছি আল্লাহর নামে যিনি পরম করুণাময়, অতি দয়ালু

[1] ص ۚ وَالقُرءانِ ذِى الذِّكرِ
[1] ছোয়াদ। শপথ উপদেশপূর্ণ কোরআনের,
[1] Sâd [These letters (Sâd etc.) are one of the miracles of the Qur’ân and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Qur’ân full of reminding (explaination and honour for the one who believes in it).

[2] بَلِ الَّذينَ كَفَروا فى عِزَّةٍ وَشِقاقٍ
[2] বরং যারা কাফের, তারা অহংকার ও বিরোধিতায় লিপ্ত।
[2] Nay, those who desbelieve are in false pride and opposition.

[3] كَم أَهلَكنا مِن قَبلِهِم مِن قَرنٍ فَنادَوا وَلاتَ حينَ مَناصٍ
[3] তাদের আগে আমি কত জনগোষ্ঠীকে ধ্বংস করেছি, অতঃপর তারা আর্তনাদ করতে শুরু করেছে কিন্তু তাদের নিষ্কৃতি লাভের সময় ছিল না।
[3] How many a generation We have destroyed before them, And they cried out when there was no longer time for escape!

[4] وَعَجِبوا أَن جاءَهُم مُنذِرٌ مِنهُم ۖ وَقالَ الكٰفِرونَ هٰذا سٰحِرٌ كَذّابٌ
[4] তারা বিস্ময়বোধ করে যে, তাদেরই কাছে তাদের মধ্যে থেকে একজন সতর্ককারী আগমন করেছেন। আর কাফেররা বলে এ-তো এক মিথ্যাচারী যাদুকর।
[4] And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad SAW) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: “This (Prophet Muhammad SAW) is a sorcerer, a liar.

[5] أَجَعَلَ الءالِهَةَ إِلٰهًا وٰحِدًا ۖ إِنَّ هٰذا لَشَيءٌ عُجابٌ
[5] সে কি বহু উপাস্যের পরিবর্তে এক উপাস্যের উপাসনা সাব্যস্ত করে দিয়েছে। নিশ্চয় এটা এক বিস্ময়কর ব্যাপার।
[5] “Has he made the âlihah (gods) (all) into One Ilâh (God – Allâh). Verily, this is a curious thing!”

[6] وَانطَلَقَ المَلَأُ مِنهُم أَنِ امشوا وَاصبِروا عَلىٰ ءالِهَتِكُم ۖ إِنَّ هٰذا لَشَيءٌ يُرادُ
[6] তাদের কতিপয় বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তি একথা বলে প্রস্থান করে যে, তোমরা চলে যাও এবং তোমাদের উপাস্যদের পূজায় দৃঢ় থাক। নিশ্চয়ই এ বক্তব্য কোন বিশেষ উদ্দেশ্যে প্রণোদিত।
[6] And the leaders among them went about (saying): “Go on, and remain constant to your âliha (gods)! Verily, this is a thing designed (against you)!

[7] ما سَمِعنا بِهٰذا فِى المِلَّةِ الءاخِرَةِ إِن هٰذا إِلَّا اختِلٰقٌ
[7] আমরা সাবেক ধর্মে এ ধরনের কথা শুনিনি। এটা মনগড়া ব্যাপার বৈ নয়।
[7] “We have not heard (the like) of this in the religion of these later days (i.e. christianity). This is nothing but an invention! (Tafsir Al-Qurtabi)

[8] أَءُنزِلَ عَلَيهِ الذِّكرُ مِن بَينِنا ۚ بَل هُم فى شَكٍّ مِن ذِكرى ۖ بَل لَمّا يَذوقوا عَذابِ
[8] আমাদের মধ্য থেকে শুধু কি তারই প্রতি উপদেশ বানী অবতীর্ণ হল? বস্তুতঃ ওরা আমার উপদেশ সম্পর্কে সন্দিহান; বরং ওরা এখনও আমার মার আস্বাদন করেনি।
[8] “Has the Reminder been sent down to him (alone) from among us?” Nay! but they are in doubt about My Reminder (this Qur’ân)! Nay, but they have not tasted (My) Torment!

[9] أَم عِندَهُم خَزائِنُ رَحمَةِ رَبِّكَ العَزيزِ الوَهّابِ
[9] না কি তাদের কাছে আপনার পরাক্রান্ত দয়াবান পালনকর্তার রহমতের কোন ভান্ডার রয়েছে?
[9] Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower?

[10] أَم لَهُم مُلكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ وَما بَينَهُما ۖ فَليَرتَقوا فِى الأَسبٰبِ
[10] নাকি নভোমন্ডল, ভূমন্ডল ও এতদুভয়ের মধ্যবর্তী সবকিছুর উপর তাদের সাম্রাজ্য রয়েছে? থাকলে তাদের আকাশে আরোহণ করা উচিত রশি ঝুলিয়ে।
[10] Or is it that the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? If so, let them ascend up with means (to the heavens)!

[11] جُندٌ ما هُنالِكَ مَهزومٌ مِنَ الأَحزابِ
[11] এক্ষেত্রে বহু বাহিনীর মধ্যে ওদেরও এক বাহিনী আছে, যা পরাজিত হবে।
[11] (As they denied Allâh’s Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated).

[12] كَذَّبَت قَبلَهُم قَومُ نوحٍ وَعادٌ وَفِرعَونُ ذُو الأَوتادِ
[12] তাদের পূর্বেও মিথ্যারোপ করেছিল নূহের সম্প্রদায়, আদ, কীলক বিশিষ্ট ফেরাউন,
[12] Before them (were many who) belied (Messengers),— the people of Nûh (Noah); and ‘Ad; and Fir’aun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes (with which he used to punish the people),

[13] وَثَمودُ وَقَومُ لوطٍ وَأَصحٰبُ لـَٔيكَةِ ۚ أُولٰئِكَ الأَحزابُ
[13] সামুদ, লূতের সম্প্রদায় ও আইকার লোকেরা। এরাই ছিল বহু বাহিনী।
[13] And Thamûd, and the people of Lut (Lot), and the Dwellers of the wood; such were the confederates.

[14] إِن كُلٌّ إِلّا كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقابِ
[14] এদের প্রত্যেকেই পয়গম্বরগণের প্রতি মিথ্যারোপ করেছে। ফলে আমার আযাব প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।
[14] Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified,

[15] وَما يَنظُرُ هٰؤُلاءِ إِلّا صَيحَةً وٰحِدَةً ما لَها مِن فَواقٍ
[15] কেবল একটি মহানাদের অপেক্ষা করছে, যাতে দম ফেলার অবকাশ থাকবে না।
[15] And these only wait for a single Saihah [shout (i.e. the blowing of the Trumpet by the angel Isrâfil)] there will be no pause or ending thereto [till everything will perish except Allâh (the only God full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour)].

[16] وَقالوا رَبَّنا عَجِّل لَنا قِطَّنا قَبلَ يَومِ الحِسابِ
[16] তারা বলে, হে আমাদের পরওয়ারদেগার, আমাদের প্রাপ্য অংশ হিসাব দিবসের আগেই দিয়ে দাও।
[16] They say: “Our Lord! Hasten to us Qittana (i.e. our Record of good and bad deeds so that we may see it) before the Day of Reckoning!”

[17] اصبِر عَلىٰ ما يَقولونَ وَاذكُر عَبدَنا داوۥدَ ذَا الأَيدِ ۖ إِنَّهُ أَوّابٌ
[17] তারা যা বলে তাতে আপনি সবর করুন এবং আমার শক্তিশালী বান্দা দাউদকে স্মরণ করুন। সে ছিল আমার প্রতি প্রত্যাবর্তনশীল।
[17] Be patient (O Muhammad SAW) of what they say, and remember Our slave Dâwûd (David), endued with power. Verily, he was ever oft-returning in all matters and in repentance (toward Allâh).

[18] إِنّا سَخَّرنَا الجِبالَ مَعَهُ يُسَبِّحنَ بِالعَشِىِّ وَالإِشراقِ
[18] আমি পর্বতমালাকে তার অনুগামী করে দিয়েছিলাম, তারা সকাল-সন্ধ্যায় তার সাথে পবিত্রতা ঘোষণা করত;
[18] Verily, We made the mountains to glorify Our Praises with him [Dâwûd (David)] in the ‘Ashi (i.e. after the mid-day till sunset) and Ishrâq (i.e. after the sunrise till mid-day).

[19] وَالطَّيرَ مَحشورَةً ۖ كُلٌّ لَهُ أَوّابٌ
[19] আর পক্ষীকুলকেও, যারা তার কাছে সমবেত হত। সবাই ছিল তাঁর প্রতি প্রত্যাবর্তনশীল।
[19] And (so did) the birds assembled: all obedient to him [Dâwûd (David)] [i.e. they came and glorified Allah’s Praises along with him]. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi)

[20] وَشَدَدنا مُلكَهُ وَءاتَينٰهُ الحِكمَةَ وَفَصلَ الخِطابِ
[20] আমি তাঁর সাম্রাজ্যকে সুদৃঢ় করেছিলাম এবং তাঁকে দিয়েছিলাম প্রজ্ঞা ও ফয়সালাকারী বাগ্নীতা।
[20] We made his kingdom strong and gave him Al-Hikmah (Prophethood) and sound judgement in speech and decision.
