بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

শুরু করছি আল্লাহর নামে যিনি পরম করুণাময়, অতি দয়ালু

[1] الحَمدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذى خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضَ وَجَعَلَ الظُّلُمٰتِ وَالنّورَ ۖ ثُمَّ الَّذينَ كَفَروا بِرَبِّهِم يَعدِلونَ

[1] সর্ববিধ প্রশংসা আল্লাহরই জন্য যিনি নভোমন্ডল ও ভূমন্ডল সৃষ্টি করেছেন এবং অন্ধকার ও আলোর উদ্ভব করেছেন। তথাপি কাফেররা স্বীয় পালনকর্তার সাথে অন্যান্যকে সমতুল্য স্থির করে।

[1] All praises and thanks be to Allâh, Who (Alone) created the heavens and the earth, and originated the darkness and the light, yet those who disbelieve hold others as equal with their Lord.

[2] هُوَ الَّذى خَلَقَكُم مِن طينٍ ثُمَّ قَضىٰ أَجَلًا ۖ وَأَجَلٌ مُسَمًّى عِندَهُ ۖ ثُمَّ أَنتُم تَمتَرونَ

[2] তিনিই তোমাদেরকে মাটির দ্বারা সৃষ্টি করেছেন, অতঃপর নির্দিষ্টকাল নির্ধারণ করেছেন। আর অপর নির্দিষ্টকাল আল্লাহর কাছে আছে। তথাপি তোমরা সন্দেহ কর।

[2] He it is Who has created you from clay, and then has decreed a (stated) term (for you to die). And there is with Him another determined term (for you to be resurrected), yet you doubt (in the Resurrection).

[3] وَهُوَ اللَّهُ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَفِى الأَرضِ ۖ يَعلَمُ سِرَّكُم وَجَهرَكُم وَيَعلَمُ ما تَكسِبونَ

[3] তিনিই আল্লাহ নভোমন্ডলে এবং ভূমন্ডলে। তিনি তোমাদের গোপন ও প্রকাশ্য বিষয় জানেন এবং তোমরা যা কর তাও অবগত।

[3] And He is Allâh (to be worshipped Alone) in the heavens and on the earth, He knows what you conceal and what you reveal, and He knows what you earn (good or bad). (see v.43:84)

[4] وَما تَأتيهِم مِن ءايَةٍ مِن ءايٰتِ رَبِّهِم إِلّا كانوا عَنها مُعرِضينَ

[4] তাদের কাছে তাদের প্রতিপালকের নিদর্শনাবলী থেকে কোন নিদর্শন আসেনি; যার প্রতি তারা বিমুখ হয় না।

[4] And never an Ayah (sign) comes to them from the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, but that they have been turning away from it

[5] فَقَد كَذَّبوا بِالحَقِّ لَمّا جاءَهُم ۖ فَسَوفَ يَأتيهِم أَنبٰؤُا۟ ما كانوا بِهِ يَستَهزِءونَ

[5] অতএব, অবশ্য তারা সত্যকে মিথ্যা বলেছে যখন তা তাদের কাছে এসেছে। বস্তুতঃ অচিরেই তাদের কাছে ঐ বিষয়ের সংবাদ আসবে, যার সাথে তারা উপহাস করত।

[5] Indeed, they rejected the truth (the Qur’ân and Muhammad SAW) when it came to them, but there will come to them the news of that (the torment) which they used to mock at.

[6] أَلَم يَرَوا كَم أَهلَكنا مِن قَبلِهِم مِن قَرنٍ مَكَّنّٰهُم فِى الأَرضِ ما لَم نُمَكِّن لَكُم وَأَرسَلنَا السَّماءَ عَلَيهِم مِدرارًا وَجَعَلنَا الأَنهٰرَ تَجرى مِن تَحتِهِم فَأَهلَكنٰهُم بِذُنوبِهِم وَأَنشَأنا مِن بَعدِهِم قَرنًا ءاخَرينَ

[6] তারা কি দেখেনি যে, আমি তাদের পুর্বে কত সম্প্রদায়কে ধ্বংস করে দিয়েছি, যাদেরকে আমি পৃথিবীতে এমন প্রতিষ্ঠা দিয়েছিলাম, যা তোমাদেরকে দেইনি। আমি আকাশকে তাদের উপর অনবরত বৃষ্টি বর্ষণ করতে দিয়েছি এবং তাদের তলদেশে নদী সৃষ্টি করে দিয়েছি, অতঃপর আমি তাদেরকে তাদের পাপের কারণে ধ্বংস করে দিয়েছি এবং তাদের পরে অন্য সম্প্রদায় সৃষ্টি করেছি।

[6] Have they not seen how many a generation before them We have destroyed whom We had established on the earth such as We have not established you? And We poured out on them rain from the sky in abundance, and made the rivers flow under them. Yet We destroyed them for their sins, and We created after them other generations.

[7] وَلَو نَزَّلنا عَلَيكَ كِتٰبًا فى قِرطاسٍ فَلَمَسوهُ بِأَيديهِم لَقالَ الَّذينَ كَفَروا إِن هٰذا إِلّا سِحرٌ مُبينٌ

[7] যদি আমি কাগজে লিখিত কোন বিষয় তাদের প্রতি নাযিল করতাম, অতঃপর তারা তা সহস্তে স্পর্শ করত, তবুও অবিশ্বাসীরা একথাই বলত যে, এটা প্রকাশ্য জাদু বৈ কিছু নয়।

[7] And even if We had sent down unto you (O Muhammad SAW) a Message written on paper so that they could touch it with their hands, the disbelievers would have said: “This is nothing but obvious magic!”

[8] وَقالوا لَولا أُنزِلَ عَلَيهِ مَلَكٌ ۖ وَلَو أَنزَلنا مَلَكًا لَقُضِىَ الأَمرُ ثُمَّ لا يُنظَرونَ

[8] তারা আরও বলে যে, তাঁর কাছে কোন ফেরেশতা কেন প্রেরণ করা হল না ? যদি আমি কোন ফেরেশতা প্রেরণ করতাম, তবে গোটা ব্যাপারটাই শেষ হয়ে যেত। অতঃপর তাদেরকে সামান্যও অবকাশ দেওয়া হতনা।

[8] And they say: “Why has not an angel been sent down to him?” Had We sent down an angel, the matter would have been judged at once, and no respite would be granted to them.

[9] وَلَو جَعَلنٰهُ مَلَكًا لَجَعَلنٰهُ رَجُلًا وَلَلَبَسنا عَلَيهِم ما يَلبِسونَ

[9] যদি আমি কোন ফেরেশতাকে রসূল করে পাঠাতাম, তবে সে মানুষের আকারেই হত। এতেও ঐ সন্দেহই করত, যা এখন করছে।

[9] And had We appointed him an angel, We indeed would have made him a man, and We would have certainly confused them in which they are already confused (i.e. the Message of Prophet Muhammad SAW).

[10] وَلَقَدِ استُهزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِن قَبلِكَ فَحاقَ بِالَّذينَ سَخِروا مِنهُم ما كانوا بِهِ يَستَهزِءونَ

[10] নিশ্চয়ই আপনার পূর্ববর্তী পয়গম্বরগণের সাথেও উপহাস করা হয়েছে। অতঃপর যারা তাঁদের সাথে উপহাস করেছিল, তাদেরকে ঐ শাস্তি বেষ্টন করে নিল, যা নিয়ে তারা উপহাস করত।

[10] And indeed (many) Messengers before you were mocked at, but their scoffers were surrounded by the very thing that they used to mock at.

[11] قُل سيروا فِى الأَرضِ ثُمَّ انظُروا كَيفَ كانَ عٰقِبَةُ المُكَذِّبينَ

[11] বলে দিনঃ তোমরা পৃথিবীতে পরিভ্রমণ কর, অতপর দেখ, মিথ্যারোপ কারীদের পরিণাম কি হয়েছে?

[11] Say (O Muhammad SAW): “Travel in the land and see what was the end of those who rejected truth.”

[12] قُل لِمَن ما فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ ۖ قُل لِلَّهِ ۚ كَتَبَ عَلىٰ نَفسِهِ الرَّحمَةَ ۚ لَيَجمَعَنَّكُم إِلىٰ يَومِ القِيٰمَةِ لا رَيبَ فيهِ ۚ الَّذينَ خَسِروا أَنفُسَهُم فَهُم لا يُؤمِنونَ

[12] জিজ্ঞেস করুন, নভোমন্ডল ও ভুমন্ডলে যা আছে, তার মালিক কে? বলে দিনঃআল্লাহ। তিনি অনুকম্পা প্রদর্শনকে নিজ দায়িত্বে লিপিবদ্ধ করে নিয়েছেন। তিনি অবশ্যই তোমাদেরকে কেয়ামতের দিন একত্রিত করবেন। এর আগমনে কোন সন্দেহ নেই। যারা নিজেদের কে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করেছে, তারাই বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করে না।

[12] Say (O Muhammad SAW): “To whom belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth?” Say: “To Allâh. He has prescribed Mercy for Himself. Indeed He will gather you together on the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. Those who have lost themselves will not believe [in Allâh as being the only Ilâh (God), and Muhammad SAW as being one of His Messengers, and in Resurrection].

[13] ۞ وَلَهُ ما سَكَنَ فِى الَّيلِ وَالنَّهارِ ۚ وَهُوَ السَّميعُ العَليمُ

[13] যা কিছু রাত ও দিনে স্থিতি লাভ করে, তাঁরই। তিনিই শ্রোতা, মহাজ্ঞানী।

[13] And to Him belongs whatsoever exists in the night and the day, and He is the All¬Hearing, the All¬Knowing.”

[14] قُل أَغَيرَ اللَّهِ أَتَّخِذُ وَلِيًّا فاطِرِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ وَهُوَ يُطعِمُ وَلا يُطعَمُ ۗ قُل إِنّى أُمِرتُ أَن أَكونَ أَوَّلَ مَن أَسلَمَ ۖ وَلا تَكونَنَّ مِنَ المُشرِكينَ

[14] আপনি বলে দিনঃ আমি কি আল্লাহ ব্যতীত-যিনি নভোমন্ডল ও ভুমন্ডলের স্রষ্টা এবং যিনি সবাইকে আহার্য দানকরেন ও তাঁকে কেউ আহার্য দান করে না অপরকে সাহায্যকারী স্থির করব? আপনি বলে দিনঃ আমি আদিষ্ট হয়েছি যে, সর্বাগ্রে আমিই আজ্ঞাবহ হব। আপনি কদাচ অংশীবাদীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হবেন না।

[14] Say (O Muhammad SAW): “Shall I take as a Walî (helper, protector, Lord or God) any other than Allâh, the Creator of the heavens and the earth? And it is He Who feeds but is not fed.” Say: “Verily, I am commanded to be the first of those who submit themselves to Allâh (as Muslims).” And be not you (O Muhammad SAW) of the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh). (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi).

[15] قُل إِنّى أَخافُ إِن عَصَيتُ رَبّى عَذابَ يَومٍ عَظيمٍ

[15] আপনি বলুন, আমি আমার প্রতিপালকের অবাধ্য হতে ভয় পাই কেননা, আমি একটি মহাদিবসের শাস্তিকে ভয় করি।

[15] Say: “I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the torment of a Mighty Day.”

[16] مَن يُصرَف عَنهُ يَومَئِذٍ فَقَد رَحِمَهُ ۚ وَذٰلِكَ الفَوزُ المُبينُ

[16] যার কাছ থেকে ঐদিন এ শাস্তি সরিয়ে নেওয়া হবে, তার প্রতি আল্লাহর অনুকম্পা হবে। এটাই বিরাট সাফল্য।

[16] He Who is averted from (such a torment) on that Day, (Allâh) has surely been Merciful to him. And that would be the obvious success

[17] وَإِن يَمسَسكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلا كاشِفَ لَهُ إِلّا هُوَ ۖ وَإِن يَمسَسكَ بِخَيرٍ فَهُوَ عَلىٰ كُلِّ شَيءٍ قَديرٌ

[17] আর যদি আল্লাহ তোমাকে কোন কষ্ট দেন, তবে তিনি ব্যতীত তা অপসারণকারী কেউ নেই। পক্ষান্তরে যদি তোমার মঙ্গল করেন, তবে তিনি সবকিছুর উপর ক্ষমতাবান।

[17] And if Allâh touches you with harm, none can remove it but He, and if He touches you with good, then He is Able to do all things

[18] وَهُوَ القاهِرُ فَوقَ عِبادِهِ ۚ وَهُوَ الحَكيمُ الخَبيرُ

[18] তিনিই পরাক্রান্ত স্বীয় বান্দাদের উপর। তিনিই জ্ঞানময়, সর্বজ্ঞ।

[18] And He is the Irresistible (Supreme), above His slaves, and He is the All-Wise, Well¬Acquainted with all things

[19] قُل أَىُّ شَيءٍ أَكبَرُ شَهٰدَةً ۖ قُلِ اللَّهُ ۖ شَهيدٌ بَينى وَبَينَكُم ۚ وَأوحِىَ إِلَىَّ هٰذَا القُرءانُ لِأُنذِرَكُم بِهِ وَمَن بَلَغَ ۚ أَئِنَّكُم لَتَشهَدونَ أَنَّ مَعَ اللَّهِ ءالِهَةً أُخرىٰ ۚ قُل لا أَشهَدُ ۚ قُل إِنَّما هُوَ إِلٰهٌ وٰحِدٌ وَإِنَّنى بَريءٌ مِمّا تُشرِكونَ

[19] আপনি জিজ্ঞেস করুনঃ সর্ববৃহৎ সাক্ষ্যদাতা কে ? বলে দিনঃ আল্লাহ আমার ও তোমাদের মধ্যে সাক্ষী। আমার প্রতি এ কোরআন অবর্তীর্ণ হয়েছে-যাতে আমি তোমাদেরকে এবং যাদের কাছে এ কোরআন পৌঁছে সবাইকে ভীতি প্রদর্শন করি। তোমরা কি সাক্ষ্য দাও যে, আল্লাহর সাথে অন্যান্য উপাস্যও রয়েছে ? আপনি বলে দিনঃ আমি এরূপ সাক্ষ্য দেব না। বলে দিনঃ তিনিই একমাত্র উপাস্য; আমি অবশ্যই তোমাদের শিরক থেকে মুক্ত।

[19] Say (O Muhammad SAW): “What thing is the most great in witness?” Say: “Allâh (the Most Great!) is Witness between me and you; this Qur’ân has been revealed to me that I may therewith warn you and whomsoever it may reach. Can you verily bear witness that besides Allâh there are other alihâh (gods)?” Say “I bear no (such) witness!” Say: “But in truth He (Allâh) is the only one Ilâh (God). And truly I am innocent of what you join in worship with Him.”

[20] الَّذينَ ءاتَينٰهُمُ الكِتٰبَ يَعرِفونَهُ كَما يَعرِفونَ أَبناءَهُمُ ۘ الَّذينَ خَسِروا أَنفُسَهُم فَهُم لا يُؤمِنونَ

[20] যাদেরকে আমি কিতাব দান করেছি, তারা তাকে চিনে, যেমন তাদের সন্তানদেরকে চিনে। যারা নিজেদেরকে ক্ষতির মধ্যে ফেলেছে, তারা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করবে না।

[20] Those to whom We have given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) recognize him (i.e. Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allâh, and they also know that there is no Ilah (God) but Allâh and Islâm is Allâh’s religion), as they recognize their own sons. Those who have lost (destroyed) themselves will not believe. (Tafsir At-Tabarî)
