[61] وَإِذ قُلتُم يٰموسىٰ لَن نَصبِرَ عَلىٰ طَعامٍ وٰحِدٍ فَادعُ لَنا رَبَّكَ يُخرِج لَنا مِمّا تُنبِتُ الأَرضُ مِن بَقلِها وَقِثّائِها وَفومِها وَعَدَسِها وَبَصَلِها ۖ قالَ أَتَستَبدِلونَ الَّذى هُوَ أَدنىٰ بِالَّذى هُوَ خَيرٌ ۚ اهبِطوا مِصرًا فَإِنَّ لَكُم ما سَأَلتُم ۗ وَضُرِبَت عَلَيهِمُ الذِّلَّةُ وَالمَسكَنَةُ وَباءو بِغَضَبٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۗ ذٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُم كانوا يَكفُرونَ بِـٔايٰتِ اللَّهِ وَيَقتُلونَ النَّبِيّۦنَ بِغَيرِ الحَقِّ ۗ ذٰلِكَ بِما عَصَوا وَكانوا يَعتَدونَ
[61] আর তোমরা যখন বললে, হে মূসা, আমরা একই ধরনের খাদ্য-দ্রব্যে কখনও ধৈর্য্যধারণ করব না। কাজেই তুমি তোমার পালনকর্তার নিকট আমাদের পক্ষে প্রার্থনা কর, তিনি যেন আমাদের জন্যে এমন বস্তুসামগ্রী দান করেন যা জমিতে উৎপন্ন হয়, তরকারী, কাকড়ী, গম, মসুরি, পেঁয়াজ প্রভৃতি। মূসা (আঃ) বললেন, তোমরা কি এমন বস্তু নিতে চাও যা নিকৃষ্ট সে বস্তুর পরিবর্তে যা উত্তম? তোমরা কোন নগরীতে উপনীত হও, তাহলেই পাবে যা তোমরা কামনা করছ। আর তাদের উপর আরোপ করা হল লাঞ্ছনা ও পরমুখাপেক্ষিতা। তারা আল্লাহর রোষানলে পতিত হয়ে ঘুরতে থাকল। এমন হলো এ জন্য যে, তারা আল্লাহর বিধি বিধান মানতো না এবং নবীগনকে অন্যায়ভাবে হত্যা করত। তার কারণ, তারা ছিল নাফরমান সীমালংঘকারী।
[61] And (remember) when you said, “O Mûsa (Moses)! We cannot endure one kind of food. So invoke your Lord for us to bring forth for us of what the earth grows, its herbs, its cucumbers, its Fûm (wheat or garlic), its lentils and its onions.” He said, “Would you exchange that which is better for that which is lower? Go you down to any town and you shall find what you want!” And they were covered with humiliation and misery, and they drew on themselves the Wrath of Allâh. That was because they used to disbelieve the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allâh and killed the Prophets wrongfully. That was because they disobeyed and used to transgress the bounds (in their disobedience to Allâh, i.e. commit crimes and sins).
