[121] الَّذينَ ءاتَينٰهُمُ الكِتٰبَ يَتلونَهُ حَقَّ تِلاوَتِهِ أُولٰئِكَ يُؤمِنونَ بِهِ ۗ وَمَن يَكفُر بِهِ فَأُولٰئِكَ هُمُ الخٰسِرونَ

[121] আমি যাদেরকে গ্রন্থ দান করেছি, তারা তা যথাযথভাবে পাঠ করে। তারাই তৎপ্রতি বিশ্বাস করে। আর যারা তা অবিশ্বাস করে, তারাই হবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত।

[121] Those (who embraced Islâm from Banî Israel) to whom We gave the Book [the Taurât (Torah)] [or those (Muhammad’s Peace be upon him companions) to whom We have given the Book (the Qur’ân)] recite it (i.e. obey its orders and follow its teachings) as it should be recited (i.e. followed), they are the ones that believe therein. And whoso disbelieves in it (the Qur’ân), those are they who are the losers. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubî.)

[122] يٰبَنى إِسرٰءيلَ اذكُروا نِعمَتِىَ الَّتى أَنعَمتُ عَلَيكُم وَأَنّى فَضَّلتُكُم عَلَى العٰلَمينَ

[122] হে বনী-ইসরাঈল! আমার অনুগ্রহের কথা স্মরণ কর, যা আমি তোমাদের দিয়েছি। আমি তোমাদেরকে বিশ্বাবাসীর উপর শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব দান করেছি।

[122] O Children of Israel! Remember My Favour which I bestowed upon you and that I preferred you to the ‘Alamîn (mankind and jinn) (of your time-period, in the past).

[123] وَاتَّقوا يَومًا لا تَجزى نَفسٌ عَن نَفسٍ شَيـًٔا وَلا يُقبَلُ مِنها عَدلٌ وَلا تَنفَعُها شَفٰعَةٌ وَلا هُم يُنصَرونَ

[123] তোমরা ভয় কর সেদিনকে, যে দিন এক ব্যক্তি থেকে অন্য ব্যক্তি বিন্দুমাত্র উপকৃত হবে না, কারও কাছ থেকে বিনিময় গৃহীত হবে না, কার ও সুপারিশ ফলপ্রদ হবে না এবং তারা সাহায্য প্রাপ্ত ও হবে না।

[123] And fear the Day (of Judgement) when no person shall avail another, nor shall compensation be accepted from him, nor shall intercession be of use to him, nor shall they be helped.

[124] ۞ وَإِذِ ابتَلىٰ إِبرٰهۦمَ رَبُّهُ بِكَلِمٰتٍ فَأَتَمَّهُنَّ ۖ قالَ إِنّى جاعِلُكَ لِلنّاسِ إِمامًا ۖ قالَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتى ۖ قالَ لا يَنالُ عَهدِى الظّٰلِمينَ

[124] যখন ইব্রাহীমকে তাঁর পালনকর্তা কয়েকটি বিষয়ে পরীক্ষা করলেন, অতঃপর তিনি তা পূর্ণ করে দিলেন, তখন পালনকর্তা বললেন, আমি তোমাকে মানবজাতির নেতা করব। তিনি বললেন, আমার বংশধর থেকেও! তিনি বললেন আমার অঙ্গীকার অত্যাচারীদের পর্যন্ত পৌঁছাবে না।

[124] And (remember) when the Lord of Ibrâhim (Abraham) [i.e., Allâh] tried him with (certain) Commands, which he fulfilled. He (Allâh) said (to him), “Verily, I am going to make you Imam (a leader) for mankind (to follow you).” [Ibrâhim (Abraham)] said, “And of my offspring (to make leaders).” (Allâh) said, “My Covenant (Prophethood) includes not Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers).”

[125] وَإِذ جَعَلنَا البَيتَ مَثابَةً لِلنّاسِ وَأَمنًا وَاتَّخِذوا مِن مَقامِ إِبرٰهۦمَ مُصَلًّى ۖ وَعَهِدنا إِلىٰ إِبرٰهۦمَ وَإِسمٰعيلَ أَن طَهِّرا بَيتِىَ لِلطّائِفينَ وَالعٰكِفينَ وَالرُّكَّعِ السُّجودِ

[125] যখন আমি কা’বা গৃহকে মানুষের জন্যে সম্মিলন স্থল ও শান্তির আলয় করলাম, আর তোমরা ইব্রাহীমের দাঁড়ানোর জায়গাকে নামাযের জায়গা বানাও এবং আমি ইব্রাহীম ও ইসমাঈলকে আদেশ করলাম, তোমরা আমার গৃহকে তওয়াফকারী, অবস্থানকারী ও রুকু-সেজদাকারীদের জন্য পবিত্র রাখ।

[125] And (remember) when We made the House (the Ka’bah at Makkah) a place of resort for mankind and a place of safety. And take you (people) the Maqâm (place) of Ibrâhim (Abraham) [or the stone on which Ibrâhim (Abraham) A.S. stood while he was building the Ka’bah] as a place of prayer (for some of your prayers, e.g. two Rak’at after the Tawâf of the Ka’bah at Makkah), and We commanded Ibrâhim (Abraham) and Ismâ’il (Ishmael) that they should purify My House (the Ka’bah at Makkah) for those who are circumambulating it, or staying (I’tikâf), or bowing or prostrating themselves (there, in prayer).

[126] وَإِذ قالَ إِبرٰهۦمُ رَبِّ اجعَل هٰذا بَلَدًا ءامِنًا وَارزُق أَهلَهُ مِنَ الثَّمَرٰتِ مَن ءامَنَ مِنهُم بِاللَّهِ وَاليَومِ الءاخِرِ ۖ قالَ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَأُمَتِّعُهُ قَليلًا ثُمَّ أَضطَرُّهُ إِلىٰ عَذابِ النّارِ ۖ وَبِئسَ المَصيرُ

[126] যখন ইব্রাহীম বললেন, পরওয়ারদেগার! এ স্থানকে তুমি শান্তিধান কর এবং এর অধিবাসীদের মধ্যে যারা অল্লাহ ও কিয়ামতে বিশ্বাস করে, তাদেরকে ফলের দ্বারা রিযিক দান কর। বললেনঃ যারা অবিশ্বাস করে, আমি তাদেরও কিছুদিন ফায়দা ভোগ করার সুযোগ দেব, অতঃপর তাদেরকে বলপ্রয়োগে দোযখের আযাবে ঠেলে দেবো; সেটা নিকৃষ্ট বাসস্থান।

[126] And (remember) when Ibrâhim (Abraham) said, “My Lord, make this city (Makkah) a place of security and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allâh and the Last Day.” He (Allâh) answered: “As for him who disbelieves, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the torment of the Fire, and worst indeed is that destination!”

[127] وَإِذ يَرفَعُ إِبرٰهۦمُ القَواعِدَ مِنَ البَيتِ وَإِسمٰعيلُ رَبَّنا تَقَبَّل مِنّا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّميعُ العَليمُ

[127] স্মরণ কর, যখন ইব্রাহীম ও ইসমাঈল কা’বাগৃহের ভিত্তি স্থাপন করছিল। তারা দোয়া করেছিলঃ পরওয়ারদেগার! আমাদের থেকে কবুল কর। নিশ্চয়ই তুমি শ্রবণকারী, সর্বজ্ঞ।

[127] And (remember) when Ibrâhim (Abraham) and (his son) Ismâ’il (Ishmael) were raising the foundations of the House (the Ka’bah at Makkah), (saying), “Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us. Verily! You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.”

[128] رَبَّنا وَاجعَلنا مُسلِمَينِ لَكَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِنا أُمَّةً مُسلِمَةً لَكَ وَأَرِنا مَناسِكَنا وَتُب عَلَينا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ التَّوّابُ الرَّحيمُ

[128] পরওয়ারদেগার! আমাদের উভয়কে তোমার আজ্ঞাবহ কর এবং আমাদের বংশধর থেকেও একটি অনুগত দল সৃষ্টি কর, আমাদের হজ্বের রীতিনীতি বলে দাও এবং আমাদের ক্ষমা কর। নিশ্চয় তুমি তওবা কবুলকারী। দয়ালু।

[128] “Our Lord! And make us submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive unto You, and show us our Manâsik (all the ceremonies of pilgrimage – Hajj and ‘Umrah), and accept our repentance. Truly, You are the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.

[129] رَبَّنا وَابعَث فيهِم رَسولًا مِنهُم يَتلوا عَلَيهِم ءايٰتِكَ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الكِتٰبَ وَالحِكمَةَ وَيُزَكّيهِم ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ العَزيزُ الحَكيمُ

[129] হে পরওয়ারদেগার! তাদের মধ্যে থেকেই তাদের নিকট একজন পয়গম্বর প্রেরণ করুণ যিনি তাদের কাছে তোমার আয়াতসমূহ তেলাওয়াত করবেন, তাদেরকে কিতাব ও হেকমত শিক্ষা দিবেন। এবং তাদের পবিত্র করবেন। নিশ্চয় তুমিই পরাক্রমশালী হেকমতওয়ালা।

[129] “Our Lord! Send amongst them a Messenger of their own (and indeed Allâh answered their invocation by sending Muhammad Peace be upon him ), who shall recite unto them Your Verses and instruct them in the Book (this Qur’ân) and Al-Hikmah (full knowledge of the Islâmic laws and jurisprudence or wisdom or Prophethood), and purify them. Verily! You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.”

[130] وَمَن يَرغَبُ عَن مِلَّةِ إِبرٰهۦمَ إِلّا مَن سَفِهَ نَفسَهُ ۚ وَلَقَدِ اصطَفَينٰهُ فِى الدُّنيا ۖ وَإِنَّهُ فِى الءاخِرَةِ لَمِنَ الصّٰلِحينَ

[130] ইব্রাহীমের ধর্ম থেকে কে মুখ ফেরায়? কিন্তু সে ব্যক্তি, যে নিজেকে বোকা প্রতিপন্ন করে। নিশ্চয়ই আমি তাকে পৃথিবীতে মনোনীত করেছি এবং সে পরকালে সৎকর্মশীলদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত।

[130] And who turns away from the religion of Ibrâhim (Abraham) (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism) except him who befools himself? Truly, We chose him in this world and verily, in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.

[131] إِذ قالَ لَهُ رَبُّهُ أَسلِم ۖ قالَ أَسلَمتُ لِرَبِّ العٰلَمينَ

[131] স্মরণ কর, যখন তাকে তার পালনকর্তা বললেনঃ অনুগত হও। সে বললঃ আমি বিশ্বপালকের অনুগত হলাম।

[131] When his Lord said to him, “Submit (i.e. be a Muslim)!” He said, “I have submitted myself (as a Muslim) to the Lord of the ‘Alamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists).”

[132] وَوَصّىٰ بِها إِبرٰهۦمُ بَنيهِ وَيَعقوبُ يٰبَنِىَّ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اصطَفىٰ لَكُمُ الدّينَ فَلا تَموتُنَّ إِلّا وَأَنتُم مُسلِمونَ

[132] এরই ওছিয়ত করেছে ইব্রাহীম তার সন্তানদের এবং ইয়াকুবও যে, হে আমার সন্তানগণ, নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ তোমাদের জন্য এ ধর্মকে মনোনীত করেছেন। কাজেই তোমরা মুসলমান না হয়ে কখনও মৃত্যুবরণ করো না।

[132] And this (submission to Allâh, Islâm) was enjoined by Ibrâhim (Abraham) upon his sons and by Ya’qûb (Jacob), (saying), “O my sons! Allâh has chosen for you the (true) religion, then die not except in the Faith of Islâm (as Muslims – Islâmic Monotheism).”

[133] أَم كُنتُم شُهَداءَ إِذ حَضَرَ يَعقوبَ المَوتُ إِذ قالَ لِبَنيهِ ما تَعبُدونَ مِن بَعدى قالوا نَعبُدُ إِلٰهَكَ وَإِلٰهَ ءابائِكَ إِبرٰهۦمَ وَإِسمٰعيلَ وَإِسحٰقَ إِلٰهًا وٰحِدًا وَنَحنُ لَهُ مُسلِمونَ

[133] তোমরা কি উপস্থিত ছিলে, যখন ইয়াকুবের মৃত্যু নিকটবর্তী হয়? যখন সে সন্তানদের বললঃ আমার পর তোমরা কার এবাদত করবে? তারা বললো, আমরা তোমার পিতৃ-পুরুষ ইব্রাহীম, ইসমাঈল ও ইসহাকের উপাস্যের এবাদত করব। তিনি একক উপাস্য।

[133] Or were you witnesses when death approached Ya’qûb (Jacob)? When he said unto his sons, “What will you worship after me?” They said, “We shall worship your Ilâh (God – Allâh), the Ilâh (God) of your fathers, Ibrâhim (Abraham), Ismâ’il (Ishmael), Ishâq (Isaac), One Ilâh (God), and to Him we submit (in Islâm).”

[134] تِلكَ أُمَّةٌ قَد خَلَت ۖ لَها ما كَسَبَت وَلَكُم ما كَسَبتُم ۖ وَلا تُسـَٔلونَ عَمّا كانوا يَعمَلونَ

[134] আমরা সবাই তাঁর আজ্ঞাবহ। তারা ছিল এক সম্প্রদায়-যারা গত হয়ে গেছে। তারা যা করেছে, তা তাদেরই জন্যে। তারা কি করত, সে সম্পর্কে তোমরা জিজ্ঞাসিত হবে না।

[134] That was a nation who has passed away. They shall receive the reward of what they earned and you of what you earn. And you will not be asked of what they used to do

[135] وَقالوا كونوا هودًا أَو نَصٰرىٰ تَهتَدوا ۗ قُل بَل مِلَّةَ إِبرٰهۦمَ حَنيفًا ۖ وَما كانَ مِنَ المُشرِكينَ

[135] তারা বলে, তোমরা ইহুদী অথবা খ্রীষ্টান হয়ে যাও, তবেই সুপথ পাবে। আপনি বলুন, কখনই নয়; বরং আমরা ইব্রাহীমের ধর্মে আছি যাতে বক্রতা নেই। সে মুশরিকদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিল না।

[135] And they say, “Be Jews or Christians, then you will be guided.” Say (to them, O Muhammad Peace be upon him ), “Nay, (We follow) only the religion of Ibrâhim (Abraham), Hanifa [Islâmic Monotheism, i.e. to worship none but Allâh (Alone)], and he was not of Al-Mushrikûn (those who worshipped others along with Allâh – see V.2:105).”

[136] قولوا ءامَنّا بِاللَّهِ وَما أُنزِلَ إِلَينا وَما أُنزِلَ إِلىٰ إِبرٰهۦمَ وَإِسمٰعيلَ وَإِسحٰقَ وَيَعقوبَ وَالأَسباطِ وَما أوتِىَ موسىٰ وَعيسىٰ وَما أوتِىَ النَّبِيّونَ مِن رَبِّهِم لا نُفَرِّقُ بَينَ أَحَدٍ مِنهُم وَنَحنُ لَهُ مُسلِمونَ

[136] তোমরা বল, আমরা ঈমান এনেছি আল্লাহর উপর এবং যা অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে আমাদের প্রতি এবং যা অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে ইব্রাহীম, ইসমাঈল, ইসহাক, ইয়াকুব এবং তদীয় বংশধরের প্রতি এবং মূসা, ঈসা, অন্যান্য নবীকে পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে যা দান করা হয়েছে, তৎসমুদয়ের উপর। আমরা তাদের মধ্যে পার্থক্য করি না। আমরা তাঁরই আনুগত্যকারী।

[136] Say (O Muslims), “We believe in Allâh and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibrâhim (Abraham), Ismâ’il (Ishmael), Ishâq (Isaac), Ya’qûb (Jacob), and to Al-Asbât [the offspring twelve sons of Ya’qûb (Jacob)], and that which has been given to Mûsa (Moses) and Isâ (Jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islâm).”

[137] فَإِن ءامَنوا بِمِثلِ ما ءامَنتُم بِهِ فَقَدِ اهتَدَوا ۖ وَإِن تَوَلَّوا فَإِنَّما هُم فى شِقاقٍ ۖ فَسَيَكفيكَهُمُ اللَّهُ ۚ وَهُوَ السَّميعُ العَليمُ

[137] অতএব তারা যদি ঈমান আনে, তোমাদের ঈমান আনার মত, তবে তারা সুপথ পাবে। আর যদি মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়, তবে তারাই হঠকারিতায় রয়েছে। সুতরাং এখন তাদের জন্যে আপনার পক্ষ থেকে আল্লাহই যথেষ্ট। তিনিই শ্রবণকারী, মহাজ্ঞানী।

[137] So if they believe in the like of that which you believe, then they are rightly guided, but if they turn away, then they are only in opposition. So Allâh will suffice for you against them. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.

[138] صِبغَةَ اللَّهِ ۖ وَمَن أَحسَنُ مِنَ اللَّهِ صِبغَةً ۖ وَنَحنُ لَهُ عٰبِدونَ

[138] আমরা আল্লাহর রং গ্রহণ করেছি। আল্লাহর রং এর চাইতে উত্তম রং আর কার হতে পারে?আমরা তাঁরই এবাদত করি।

[138] [Our Sibghah (religion) is] the Sibghah (Religion) of Allâh (Islâm) and which Sibghah (religion) can be better than Allâh’s? And we are His worshippers. [Tafsir Ibn Kathîr.]

[139] قُل أَتُحاجّونَنا فِى اللَّهِ وَهُوَ رَبُّنا وَرَبُّكُم وَلَنا أَعمٰلُنا وَلَكُم أَعمٰلُكُم وَنَحنُ لَهُ مُخلِصونَ

[139] আপনি বলে দিন, তোমরা কি আমাদের সাথে আল্লাহ সম্পর্কে তর্ক করছ? অথচ তিনিই আমাদের পালনকর্তা এবং তোমাদের ও পালনকর্তা। আমাদের জন্যে আমাদের কর্ম তোমাদের জন্যে তোমাদের কর্ম। এবং আমরা তাঁরই প্রতি একনিষ্ঠ।

[139] Say (O Muhammad Peace be upon him to the Jews and Christians), “Dispute you with us about Allâh while He is our Lord and your Lord? And we are to be rewarded for our deeds and you for your deeds. And we are sincere to Him [in worship and obedience (i.e. we worship Him Alone and none else, and we obey His Orders).]”

[140] أَم تَقولونَ إِنَّ إِبرٰهۦمَ وَإِسمٰعيلَ وَإِسحٰقَ وَيَعقوبَ وَالأَسباطَ كانوا هودًا أَو نَصٰرىٰ ۗ قُل ءَأَنتُم أَعلَمُ أَمِ اللَّهُ ۗ وَمَن أَظلَمُ مِمَّن كَتَمَ شَهٰدَةً عِندَهُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَمَا اللَّهُ بِغٰفِلٍ عَمّا تَعمَلونَ

[140] অথবা তোমরা কি বলছ যে, নিশ্চয়ই ইব্রাহীম, ইসমাঈল, ইসহাক, ইয়াকুব (আঃ) ও তাদের সন্তানগন ইহুদী অথবা খ্রীষ্টান ছিলেন? আপনি বলে দিন, তোমরা বেশী জান, না আল্লাহ বেশী জানেন?

[140] Or say you that Ibrâhim (Abraham), Ismâ’il (Ishmael), Ishâque (Isaac), Ya’qûb (Jacob) and Al-Asbât [the offspring twelve sons of Ya’qûb (Jacob)] were Jews or Christians? Say, “Do you know better or does Allâh (knows better… that they all were Muslims)? And who is more unjust than he who conceals the testimony [i.e. to believe in Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him when he comes, as is written in their Books. (See Verse 7:157)] he has from Allâh? And Allâh is not unaware of what you do.”
