[26] ثُمَّ أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ سَكينَتَهُ عَلىٰ رَسولِهِ وَعَلَى المُؤمِنينَ وَأَنزَلَ جُنودًا لَم تَرَوها وَعَذَّبَ الَّذينَ كَفَروا ۚ وَذٰلِكَ جَزاءُ الكٰفِرينَ

[26] তারপর আল্লাহ নাযিল করেন নিজের পক্ষ থেকে সান্ত্বনা, তাঁর রসূল ও মুমিনদের প্রতি এবং অবতীর্ণ করেন এমন সেনাবাহিনী যাদের তোমরা দেখতে পাওনি। আর শাস্তি প্রদান করেন কাফেরদের এবং এটি হল কাফেরদের কর্মফল।

[26] Then Allâh did send down His Sakînah (calmness, tranquillity and reassurance, etc.) on the Messenger (Muhammad SAW), and on the believers, and sent down forces (angels) which you saw not, and punished the disbelievers. Such is the recompense of disbelievers.

[27] ثُمَّ يَتوبُ اللَّهُ مِن بَعدِ ذٰلِكَ عَلىٰ مَن يَشاءُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ غَفورٌ رَحيمٌ

[27] এরপর আল্লাহ যাদের প্রতি ইচ্ছা তওবার তওফীক দেবেন, আর আল্লাহ অতীব ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু।

[27] Then after that Allâh will accept the repentance of whom He wills. And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

[28] يٰأَيُّهَا الَّذينَ ءامَنوا إِنَّمَا المُشرِكونَ نَجَسٌ فَلا يَقرَبُوا المَسجِدَ الحَرامَ بَعدَ عامِهِم هٰذا ۚ وَإِن خِفتُم عَيلَةً فَسَوفَ يُغنيكُمُ اللَّهُ مِن فَضلِهِ إِن شاءَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَليمٌ حَكيمٌ

[28] হে ঈমানদারগণ! মুশরিকরা তো অপবিত্র। সুতরাং এ বছরের পর তারা যেন মসজিদুল-হারামের নিকট না আসে। আর যদি তোমরা দারিদ্রেøর আশংকা কর, তবে আল্লাহ চাইলে নিজ করুনায় ভবিষ্যতে তোমাদের অভাবমুক্ত করে দেবেন। নিঃসন্দেহে আল্লাহ সর্বজ্ঞ, প্রজ্ঞাময়।

[28] O you who believe (in Allâh’s Oneness and in His Messenger (Muhammad SAW)! Verily, the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh, and in the Message of Muhammad SAW) are Najasun (impure). So let them not come near Al-Masjid-al-Harâm (at Makkah) after this year, and if you fear poverty, Allâh will enrich you if He wills, out of His Bounty. Surely, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

[29] قٰتِلُوا الَّذينَ لا يُؤمِنونَ بِاللَّهِ وَلا بِاليَومِ الءاخِرِ وَلا يُحَرِّمونَ ما حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ وَرَسولُهُ وَلا يَدينونَ دينَ الحَقِّ مِنَ الَّذينَ أوتُوا الكِتٰبَ حَتّىٰ يُعطُوا الجِزيَةَ عَن يَدٍ وَهُم صٰغِرونَ

[29] তোমরা যুদ্ধ কর আহলে-কিতাবের ঐ লোকদের সাথে, যারা আল্লাহ ও রোজ হাশরে ঈমান রাখে না, আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রসূল যা হারাম করে দিয়েছেন তা হারাম করে না এবং গ্রহণ করে না সত্য ধর্ম, যতক্ষণ না করজোড়ে তারা জিযিয়া প্রদান করে।

[29] Fight against those who (1) believe not in Allâh, (2) nor in the Last Day, (3) nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) (4) and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islâm) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

[30] وَقالَتِ اليَهودُ عُزَيرٌ ابنُ اللَّهِ وَقالَتِ النَّصٰرَى المَسيحُ ابنُ اللَّهِ ۖ ذٰلِكَ قَولُهُم بِأَفوٰهِهِم ۖ يُضٰهِـٔونَ قَولَ الَّذينَ كَفَروا مِن قَبلُ ۚ قٰتَلَهُمُ اللَّهُ ۚ أَنّىٰ يُؤفَكونَ

[30] ইহুদীরা বলে ওযাইর আল্লাহর পুত্র এবং নাসারারা বলে ‘মসীহ আল্লাহর পুত্র’। এ হচ্ছে তাদের মুখের কথা। এরা পূর্ববর্তী কাফেরদের মত কথা বলে। আল্লাহ এদের ধ্বংস করুন, এরা কোন উল্টা পথে চলে যাচ্ছে।

[30] And the Jews say: ‘Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allâh, and the Christians say: Messiah is the son of Allâh. That is their saying with their mouths, resembling the saying of the those who disbelieved aforetime. Allâh’s Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth!

[31] اتَّخَذوا أَحبارَهُم وَرُهبٰنَهُم أَربابًا مِن دونِ اللَّهِ وَالمَسيحَ ابنَ مَريَمَ وَما أُمِروا إِلّا لِيَعبُدوا إِلٰهًا وٰحِدًا ۖ لا إِلٰهَ إِلّا هُوَ ۚ سُبحٰنَهُ عَمّا يُشرِكونَ

[31] তারা তাদের পন্ডিত ও সংসার-বিরাগীদিগকে তাদের পালনকর্তারূপে গ্রহণ করেছে আল্লাহ ব্যতীত এবং মরিয়মের পুত্রকেও। অথচ তারা আদিষ্ট ছিল একমাত্র মাবুদের এবাদতের জন্য। তিনি ছাড়া কোন মাবুদ নেই, তারা তাঁর শরীক সাব্যস্ত করে, তার থেকে তিনি পবিত্র।

[31] They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allâh (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allâh), and (they also took as their Lord) Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), while they (Jews and Christians) were commanded [in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)) to worship none but One Ilâh (God – Allâh) Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). Praise and glory is to Him, (far above is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him).”

[32] يُريدونَ أَن يُطفِـٔوا نورَ اللَّهِ بِأَفوٰهِهِم وَيَأبَى اللَّهُ إِلّا أَن يُتِمَّ نورَهُ وَلَو كَرِهَ الكٰفِرونَ

[32] তারা তাদের মুখের ফুৎকারে আল্লাহর নূরকে নির্বাপিত করতে চায়। কিন্তু আল্লাহ অবশ্যই তাঁর নূরের পূর্ণতা বিধান করবেন, যদিও কাফেররা তা অপ্রীতিকর মনে করে।

[32] They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allâh’s Light (with which Muhammad SAW has been sent – Islâmic Monotheism) with their mouths, but Allâh will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kâfirûn (disbelievers) hate (it).

[33] هُوَ الَّذى أَرسَلَ رَسولَهُ بِالهُدىٰ وَدينِ الحَقِّ لِيُظهِرَهُ عَلَى الدّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَو كَرِهَ المُشرِكونَ

[33] তিনিই প্রেরণ করেছেন আপন রসূলকে হেদায়েত ও সত্য দ্বীন সহকারে, যেন এ দ্বীনকে অপরাপর দ্বীনের উপর জয়যুক্ত করেন, যদিও মুশরিকরা তা অপ্রীতিকর মনে করে।

[33] It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islâm), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) hate (it).

[34] ۞ يٰأَيُّهَا الَّذينَ ءامَنوا إِنَّ كَثيرًا مِنَ الأَحبارِ وَالرُّهبانِ لَيَأكُلونَ أَموٰلَ النّاسِ بِالبٰطِلِ وَيَصُدّونَ عَن سَبيلِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَالَّذينَ يَكنِزونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالفِضَّةَ وَلا يُنفِقونَها فى سَبيلِ اللَّهِ فَبَشِّرهُم بِعَذابٍ أَليمٍ

[34] হে ঈমানদারগণ! পন্ডিত ও সংসারবিরাগীদের অনেকে লোকদের মালামাল অন্যায়ভাবে ভোগ করে চলছে এবং আল্লাহর পথ থেকে লোকদের নিবৃত রাখছে। আর যারা স্বর্ণ ও রূপা জমা করে রাখে এবং তা ব্যয় করে না আল্লাহর পথে, তাদের কঠোর আযাবের সুসংবাদ শুনিয়ে দিন।

[34] O you who believe! Verily, there are many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks who devour the wealth of mankind in falsehood, and hinder (them) from the Way of Allâh (i.e. Allâh’s religion of Islâmic Monotheism). And those who hoard up gold and silver [Al-Kanz: the money, the Zakât of which has not been paid], and spend them not in the Way of Allâh, -announce unto them a painful torment.

[35] يَومَ يُحمىٰ عَلَيها فى نارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكوىٰ بِها جِباهُهُم وَجُنوبُهُم وَظُهورُهُم ۖ هٰذا ما كَنَزتُم لِأَنفُسِكُم فَذوقوا ما كُنتُم تَكنِزونَ

[35] সে দিন জাহান্নামের আগুনে তা উত্তপ্ত করা হবে এবং তার দ্বারা তাদের ললাট, পার্শ্ব ও পৃষ্ঠদেশকে দগ্ধ করা হবে (সেদিন বলা হবে), এগুলো যা তোমরা নিজেদের জন্যে জমা রেখেছিলে, সুতরাং এক্ষণে আস্বাদ গ্রহণ কর জমা করে রাখার।

[35] On the Day when that (Al-Kanz: money, gold and silver, the Zakât of which has not been paid) will be heated in the Fire of Hell and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, (and it will be said unto them):-“This is the treasure which you hoarded for yourselves. Now taste of what you used to hoard.”

[36] إِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهورِ عِندَ اللَّهِ اثنا عَشَرَ شَهرًا فى كِتٰبِ اللَّهِ يَومَ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضَ مِنها أَربَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ۚ ذٰلِكَ الدّينُ القَيِّمُ ۚ فَلا تَظلِموا فيهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُم ۚ وَقٰتِلُوا المُشرِكينَ كافَّةً كَما يُقٰتِلونَكُم كافَّةً ۚ وَاعلَموا أَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ المُتَّقينَ

[36] নিশ্চয় আল্লাহর বিধান ও গননায় মাস বারটি, আসমানসমূহ ও পৃথিবী সৃষ্টির দিন থেকে। তন্মধ্যে চারটি সম্মানিত। এটিই সুপ্রতিষ্ঠিত বিধান; সুতরাং এর মধ্যে তোমরা নিজেদের প্রতি অত্যাচার করো না। আর মুশরিকদের সাথে তোমরা যুদ্ধ কর সমবেতভাবে, যেমন তারাও তোমাদের সাথে যুদ্ধ করে যাচ্ছে সমবেতভাবে। আর মনে রেখো, আল্লাহ মুত্তাকীনদের সাথে রয়েছেন।

[36] Verily, the number of months with Allâh is twelve months (in a year), so was it ordained by Allâh on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred, (i.e. the 1st, the 7th, the 11th and the 12th months of the Islâmic calendar). That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein, and fight against the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) collectively, as they fight against you collectively. But know that Allâh is with those who are Al-Muttaqûn (the pious – see V.2:2).

[37] إِنَّمَا النَّسيءُ زِيادَةٌ فِى الكُفرِ ۖ يُضَلُّ بِهِ الَّذينَ كَفَروا يُحِلّونَهُ عامًا وَيُحَرِّمونَهُ عامًا لِيُواطِـٔوا عِدَّةَ ما حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ فَيُحِلّوا ما حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ ۚ زُيِّنَ لَهُم سوءُ أَعمٰلِهِم ۗ وَاللَّهُ لا يَهدِى القَومَ الكٰفِرينَ

[37] এই মাস পিছিয়ে দেয়ার কাজ কেবল কুফরীর মাত্রা বৃদ্ধি করে, যার ফলে কাফেরগণ গোমরাহীতে পতিত হয়। এরা হালাল করে নেয় একে এক বছর এবং হারাম করে নেয় অন্য বছর, যাতে তারা গণনা পূর্ণ করে নেয় আল্লাহর নিষিদ্ধ মাসগুলোর। অতঃপর হালাল করে নেয় আল্লাহর হারামকৃত মাসগুলোকে। তাদের মন্দকাজগুলো তাদের জন্যে শোভনীয় করে দেয়া হল। আর আল্লাহ কাফের সম্প্রদায়কে হেদায়েত করেন না।

[37] The postponing (of a Sacred Month) is indeed an addition to disbelief: thereby the disbelievers are led astray, for they make it lawful one year and forbid it another year in order to adjust the number of months forbidden by Allâh, and make such forbidden ones lawful. The evil of their deeds is made fair-seeming pleasing to them. And Allâh guides not the people, who disbelieve.

[38] يٰأَيُّهَا الَّذينَ ءامَنوا ما لَكُم إِذا قيلَ لَكُمُ انفِروا فى سَبيلِ اللَّهِ اثّاقَلتُم إِلَى الأَرضِ ۚ أَرَضيتُم بِالحَيوٰةِ الدُّنيا مِنَ الءاخِرَةِ ۚ فَما مَتٰعُ الحَيوٰةِ الدُّنيا فِى الءاخِرَةِ إِلّا قَليلٌ

[38] হে ঈমানদারগণ, তোমাদের কি হল, যখন আল্লাহর পথে বের হবার জন্যে তোমাদের বলা হয়, তখন মাটি জড়িয়ে ধর, তোমরা কি আখেরাতের পরিবর্তে দুনিয়ার জীবনে পরিতুষ্ট হয়ে গেলে? অথচ আখেরাতের তুলনায় দুনিয়ার জীবনের উপকরণ অতি অল্প।

[38] O you who believe! What is the matter with you, that when you are asked to march forth in the Cause of Allâh (i.e. Jihâd) you cling heavily to the earth? Are you pleased with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But little is the enjoyment of the life of this world as compared to the Hereafter.

[39] إِلّا تَنفِروا يُعَذِّبكُم عَذابًا أَليمًا وَيَستَبدِل قَومًا غَيرَكُم وَلا تَضُرّوهُ شَيـًٔا ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلىٰ كُلِّ شَيءٍ قَديرٌ

[39] যদি বের না হও, তবে আল্লাহ তোমাদের মর্মন্তুদ আযাব দেবেন এবং অপর জাতিকে তোমাদের স্থলাভিষিক্ত করবেন। তোমরা তাঁর কোন ক্ষতি করতে পারবে না, আর আল্লাহ সর্ববিষয়ে শক্তিমান।

[39] If you march not forth, He will punish you with a painful torment and will replace you by another people, and you cannot harm Him at all, and Allâh is Able to do all things

[40] إِلّا تَنصُروهُ فَقَد نَصَرَهُ اللَّهُ إِذ أَخرَجَهُ الَّذينَ كَفَروا ثانِىَ اثنَينِ إِذ هُما فِى الغارِ إِذ يَقولُ لِصٰحِبِهِ لا تَحزَن إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَنا ۖ فَأَنزَلَ اللَّهُ سَكينَتَهُ عَلَيهِ وَأَيَّدَهُ بِجُنودٍ لَم تَرَوها وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ الَّذينَ كَفَرُوا السُّفلىٰ ۗ وَكَلِمَةُ اللَّهِ هِىَ العُليا ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَزيزٌ حَكيمٌ

[40] যদি তোমরা তাকে (রসূলকে) সাহায্য না কর, তবে মনে রেখো, আল্লাহ তার সাহায্য করেছিলেন, যখন তাকে কাফেররা বহিষ্কার করেছিল, তিনি ছিলেন দু’জনের একজন, যখন তারা গুহার মধ্যে ছিলেন। তখন তিনি আপন সঙ্গীকে বললেন বিষন্ন হয়ো না, আল্লাহ আমাদের সাথে আছেন। অতঃপর আল্লাহ তার প্রতি স্বীয় সান্তনা নাযিল করলেন এবং তাঁর সাহায্যে এমন বাহিনী পাঠালেন, যা তোমরা দেখনি। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ কাফেরদের মাথা নীচু করে দিলেন আর আল্লাহর কথাই সদা সমুন্নত এবং আল্লাহ পরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়।

[40] If you help him (Muhammad SAW) not (it does not matter), for Allâh did indeed help him when the disbelievers drove him out, the second of two, when they (Muhammad SAW and Abu Bakr radhiallahu’anhu) were in the cave, and he (SAW) said to his companion (Abu Bakr radhiallahu’anhu): “Be not sad (or afraid), surely Allâh is with us.” Then Allâh sent down His Sakînah (calmness, tranquillity, peace) upon him, and strengthened him with forces (angels) which you saw not, and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowermost, while the Word of Allâh that became the uppermost, and Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

[41] انفِروا خِفافًا وَثِقالًا وَجٰهِدوا بِأَموٰلِكُم وَأَنفُسِكُم فى سَبيلِ اللَّهِ ۚ ذٰلِكُم خَيرٌ لَكُم إِن كُنتُم تَعلَمونَ

[41] তোমরা বের হয়ে পড় স্বল্প বা প্রচুর সরঞ্জামের সাথে এবং জেহাদ কর আল্লাহর পথে নিজেদের মাল ও জান দিয়ে, এটি তোমাদের জন্যে অতি উত্তম, যদি তোমরা বুঝতে পার।

[41] March forth, whether you are light (being healthy, young and wealthy) or heavy (being ill, old and poor), strive hard with your wealth and your lives in the Cause of Allâh. This is better for you, if you but knew.

[42] لَو كانَ عَرَضًا قَريبًا وَسَفَرًا قاصِدًا لَاتَّبَعوكَ وَلٰكِن بَعُدَت عَلَيهِمُ الشُّقَّةُ ۚ وَسَيَحلِفونَ بِاللَّهِ لَوِ استَطَعنا لَخَرَجنا مَعَكُم يُهلِكونَ أَنفُسَهُم وَاللَّهُ يَعلَمُ إِنَّهُم لَكٰذِبونَ

[42] যদি আশু লাভের সম্ভাবনা থাকতো এবং যাত্রাপথও সংক্ষিপ্ত হতো, তবে তারা অবশ্যই আপনার সহযাত্রী হতো, কিন্তু তাদের নিকট যাত্রাপথ সুদীর্ঘ মনে হল। আর তারা এমনই শপথ করে বলবে, আমাদের সাধ্য থাকলে অবশ্যই তোমাদের সাথে বের হতাম, এরা নিজেরাই নিজেদের বিনষ্ট করছে, আর আল্লাহ জানেন যে, এরা মিথ্যাবাদী।

[42] Had it been a near gain (booty in front of them) and an easy journey, they would have followed you, but the distance (Tabuk expedition) was long for them, and they would swear by Allâh, “If we only could, we would certainly have come forth with you.” They destroy their ownselves, and Allâh knows that they are liars—

[43] عَفَا اللَّهُ عَنكَ لِمَ أَذِنتَ لَهُم حَتّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ الَّذينَ صَدَقوا وَتَعلَمَ الكٰذِبينَ

[43] আল্লাহ আপনাকে ক্ষমা করুন, আপনি কেন তাদের অব্যাহতি দিলেন, যে পর্যন্ত না আপনার কাছে পরিষ্কার হয়ে যেত সত্যবাদীরা এবং জেনে নিতেন মিথ্যাবাদীদের।

[43] May Allâh forgive you (O Muhammad SAW). Why did you grant them leave (for remaining behind, you should have persisted as regards your order to them to proceed on Jihâd), until those who told the truth were seen by you in a clear light, and you had known the liars?

[44] لا يَستَـٔذِنُكَ الَّذينَ يُؤمِنونَ بِاللَّهِ وَاليَومِ الءاخِرِ أَن يُجٰهِدوا بِأَموٰلِهِم وَأَنفُسِهِم ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَليمٌ بِالمُتَّقينَ

[44] আল্লাহ ও রোজ কেয়ামতের প্রতি যাদের ঈমান রয়েছে তারা মাল ও জান দ্বারা জেহাদ করা থেকে আপনার কাছে অব্যাহতি কামনা করবে না, আর আল্লাহ সাবধানীদের ভাল জানেন।

[44] Those who believe in Allâh and the Last Day would not ask your leave to be exempted from fighting with their properties and their lives, and Allâh is the All-Knower of Al-Muttaqûn (the pious – see V.2:2)

[45] إِنَّما يَستَـٔذِنُكَ الَّذينَ لا يُؤمِنونَ بِاللَّهِ وَاليَومِ الءاخِرِ وَارتابَت قُلوبُهُم فَهُم فى رَيبِهِم يَتَرَدَّدونَ

[45] নিঃসন্দেহে তারাই আপনার কাছে অব্যাহতি চায়, যারা আল্লাহ ও রোজ কেয়ামতে ঈমান রাখে না এবং তাদের অন্তর সন্দেহগ্রস্ত হয়ে পড়েছে, সুতরাং সন্দেহের আবর্তে তারা ঘুরপাক খেয়ে চলেছে।

[45] It is only those who believe not in Allâh and the Last Day and whose hearts are in doubt that ask your leave (to be exempted from Jihâd). So in their doubts they waver.
