بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

শুরু করছি আল্লাহর নামে যিনি পরম করুণাময়, অতি দয়ালু

[1] الم
[1] আলিফ-লাম-মীম,
[1] Alif¬Lâm¬Mîm. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur’ân, and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings].

[2] غُلِبَتِ الرّومُ
[2] রোমকরা পরাজিত হয়েছে,
[2] The Romans have been defeated.

[3] فى أَدنَى الأَرضِ وَهُم مِن بَعدِ غَلَبِهِم سَيَغلِبونَ
[3] নিকটবর্তী এলাকায় এবং তারা তাদের পরাজয়ের পর অতিসত্বর বিজয়ী হবে,
[3] In the nearer land (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine), and they, after their defeat, will be victorious.

[4] فى بِضعِ سِنينَ ۗ لِلَّهِ الأَمرُ مِن قَبلُ وَمِن بَعدُ ۚ وَيَومَئِذٍ يَفرَحُ المُؤمِنونَ
[4] কয়েক বছরের মধ্যে। অগ্র-পশ্চাতের কাজ আল্লাহর হাতেই। সেদিন মুমিনগণ আনন্দিত হবে।
[4] Within three to nine years. The decision of the matter, before and after (these events) is only with Allâh, (before the defeat of Romans by the Persians, and after, the defeat of the Persians by the Romans). And on that Day, the believers (i.e. Muslims) will rejoice (at the victory given by Allâh to the Romans against the Persians) —

[5] بِنَصرِ اللَّهِ ۚ يَنصُرُ مَن يَشاءُ ۖ وَهُوَ العَزيزُ الرَّحيمُ
[5] আল্লাহর সাহায্যে। তিনি যাকে ইচ্ছা সাহায্য করেন এবং তিনি পরাক্রমশালী, পরম দয়ালু।
[5] With the help of Allâh, He helps whom He wills, and He is the All¬Mighty, the Most Merciful.

[6] وَعدَ اللَّهِ ۖ لا يُخلِفُ اللَّهُ وَعدَهُ وَلٰكِنَّ أَكثَرَ النّاسِ لا يَعلَمونَ
[6] আল্লাহর প্রতিশ্রুতি হয়ে গেছে। আল্লাহ তার প্রতিশ্রুতি খেলাফ করবেন না। কিন্তু অধিকাংশ লোক জানে না।
[6] (It is) a Promise of Allâh (i.e. Allâh will give victory to the Romans against the Persians), and Allâh fails not in His Promise, but most of men know not.

[7] يَعلَمونَ ظٰهِرًا مِنَ الحَيوٰةِ الدُّنيا وَهُم عَنِ الءاخِرَةِ هُم غٰفِلونَ
[7] তারা পার্থিব জীবনের বাহ্যিক দিক জানে এবং তারা পরকালের খবর রাখে না।
[7] They know only the outside appearance of the life of the world (i.e. the matters of their livelihood, like irrigating or sowing or reaping, etc.), and they are heedless of the Hereafter.

[8] أَوَلَم يَتَفَكَّروا فى أَنفُسِهِم ۗ ما خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضَ وَما بَينَهُما إِلّا بِالحَقِّ وَأَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى ۗ وَإِنَّ كَثيرًا مِنَ النّاسِ بِلِقائِ رَبِّهِم لَكٰفِرونَ
[8] তারা কি তাদের মনে ভেবে দেখে না যে, আল্লাহ নভোমন্ডল, ভূমন্ডল ও এতদুভয়ের মধ্যবর্তী সবকিছু সৃষ্টি করেছেন যথাযথরূপে ও নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের জন্য, কিন্তু অনেক মানুষ তাদের পালনকর্তার সাক্ষাতে অবিশ্বাসী।
[8] Do they not think deeply (in their ownselves) about themselves (how Allâh created them from nothing, and similarly He will resurrect them)? Allâh has created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, except with truth and for an appointed term. And indeed many of mankind deny the Meeting with their Lord. [See Tafsir At¬Tabarî]

[9] أَوَلَم يَسيروا فِى الأَرضِ فَيَنظُروا كَيفَ كانَ عٰقِبَةُ الَّذينَ مِن قَبلِهِم ۚ كانوا أَشَدَّ مِنهُم قُوَّةً وَأَثارُوا الأَرضَ وَعَمَروها أَكثَرَ مِمّا عَمَروها وَجاءَتهُم رُسُلُهُم بِالبَيِّنٰتِ ۖ فَما كانَ اللَّهُ لِيَظلِمَهُم وَلٰكِن كانوا أَنفُسَهُم يَظلِمونَ
[9] তারা কি পৃথিবীতে ভ্রমণ করে না অতঃপর দেখে না যে; তাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের পরিণাম কি কি হয়েছে? তারা তাদের চাইতে শক্তিশালী ছিল, তারা যমীন চাষ করত এবং তাদের চাইতে বেশী আবাদ করত। তাদের কাছে তাদের রসূলগণ সুস্পষ্ট নির্দেশ নিয়ে এসেছিল। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ তাদের প্রতি জুলুমকারী ছিলেন না। কিন্তু তারা নিজেরাই নিজেদের প্রতি জুলুম করেছিল।
[9] Do they not travel in the land, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength, and they tilled the earth and populated it in greater numbers than these (pagans) have done, and there came to them their Messengers with clear proofs. Surely, Allâh wronged them not, but they used to wrong themselves.

[10] ثُمَّ كانَ عٰقِبَةَ الَّذينَ أَسٰـُٔوا السّوأىٰ أَن كَذَّبوا بِـٔايٰتِ اللَّهِ وَكانوا بِها يَستَهزِءونَ
[10] অতঃপর যারা মন্দ কর্ম করত, তাদের পরিণাম হয়েছে মন্দ। কারণ, তারা আল্লাহর আয়াতসমূহকে মিথ্যা বলত এবং সেগুলো নিয়ে ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রূপ করত।
[10] Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they belied the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, Messengers, etc.) of Allâh and made mockery of them.

[11] اللَّهُ يَبدَؤُا۟ الخَلقَ ثُمَّ يُعيدُهُ ثُمَّ إِلَيهِ تُرجَعونَ
[11] আল্লাহ প্রথমবার সৃষ্টি করেন, অতঃপর তিনি পুনরায় সৃষ্টি করবেন। এরপর তোমরা তাঁরই দিকে প্রত্যাবর্তিত হবে।
[11] Allâh (Alone) originates the creation, then He will repeat it, then to Him you will be returned.

[12] وَيَومَ تَقومُ السّاعَةُ يُبلِسُ المُجرِمونَ
[12] যে দিন কেয়ামত সংঘটিত হবে, সেদিন অপরাধীরা হতাশ হয়ে যাবে।
[12] And on the Day when the Hour will be established, the Mujrimûn (disbelievers, sinners, criminals, polytheists) will be plunged into destruction with (deep regrets, sorrows, and) despair.

[13] وَلَم يَكُن لَهُم مِن شُرَكائِهِم شُفَعٰؤُا۟ وَكانوا بِشُرَكائِهِم كٰفِرينَ
[13] তাদের দেবতা গুলোর মধ্যে কেউ তাদের সুপারিশ করবে না। এবং তারা তাদের দেবতাকে অস্বীকার করবে।
[13] No intercessors will they have from those whom they made equal with Allâh (partners i.e. their so¬called associate gods), and they will (themselves) reject and deny their partners.

[14] وَيَومَ تَقومُ السّاعَةُ يَومَئِذٍ يَتَفَرَّقونَ
[14] যেদিন কেয়ামত সংঘটিত হবে, সেদিন মানুষ বিভক্ত হয়ে পড়বে।
[14] And on the Day when the Hour will be established, that Day shall (all men) be separated (i.e the believers will be separated from the disbelievers).

[15] فَأَمَّا الَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ فَهُم فى رَوضَةٍ يُحبَرونَ
[15] যারা বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছে ও সৎকর্ম করেছে, তারা জান্নাতে সমাদৃত হবে;
[15] Then as for those who believed (in the Oneness of Allâh – Islâmic Monotheism) and did righteous good deeds, such shall be honoured and made to enjoy luxurious life (forever) in a Garden of Delight (Paradise).

[16] وَأَمَّا الَّذينَ كَفَروا وَكَذَّبوا بِـٔايٰتِنا وَلِقائِ الءاخِرَةِ فَأُولٰئِكَ فِى العَذابِ مُحضَرونَ
[16] আর যারা কাফের এবং আমার আয়াতসমূহ ও পরকালের সাক্ষাতকারকে মিথ্যা বলছে, তাদেরকেই আযাবের মধ্যে উপস্থিত করা হবে।
[16] And as for those who disbelieved and belied Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, Allâh’s Messengers, Resurrection, etc.), and the Meeting of the Hereafter, such shall be brought forth to the torment (in the Hell-fire).

[17] فَسُبحٰنَ اللَّهِ حينَ تُمسونَ وَحينَ تُصبِحونَ
[17] অতএব, তোমরা আল্লাহর পবিত্রতা স্মরণ কর সন্ধ্যায় ও সকালে,
[17] So glorify Allâh [above all that (evil) they associate with Him (O believers)], when you come up to the evening [i.e. offer the (Maghrib) sunset and (‘Ishâ’) night prayers], and when you enter the morning [i.e offer the (Fajr) morning prayer].

[18] وَلَهُ الحَمدُ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ وَعَشِيًّا وَحينَ تُظهِرونَ
[18] এবং অপরাহেß ও মধ্যাহেß। নভোমন্ডল ও ভূমন্ডলে, তাঁরই প্রসংসা।
[18] And His are all the praises and thanks in the heavens and the earth, and (glorify Him) in the afternoon (i.e. offer ‘Asr prayer) and when you come up to the time, when the day begins to decline (i.e offer Zuhr prayer). (Ibn ‘Abbâs said: “These are the five compulsory congregational prayers mentioned in the Qur’ân).” (Tafsir At-Tabari)

[19] يُخرِجُ الحَىَّ مِنَ المَيِّتِ وَيُخرِجُ المَيِّتَ مِنَ الحَىِّ وَيُحىِ الأَرضَ بَعدَ مَوتِها ۚ وَكَذٰلِكَ تُخرَجونَ
[19] তিনি মৃত থেকে জীবিতকে বহির্গত করেন জীবিত থেকে মৃতকে বহির্গত করেন, এবং ভূমির মৃত্যুর পর তাকে পুনরুজ্জীবিত করেন। এভাবে তোমরা উত্থিত হবে।
[19] He brings out the living from the dead, and brings out the dead from the living. And He revives the earth after its death. And thus shall you be brought out (resurrected).

[20] وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ أَن خَلَقَكُم مِن تُرابٍ ثُمَّ إِذا أَنتُم بَشَرٌ تَنتَشِرونَ
[20] তাঁর নিদর্শনাবলীর মধ্যে এক নিদর্শন এই যে, তিনি মৃত্তিকা থেকে তোমাদের সৃষ্টি করেছেন। এখন তোমরা মানুষ, পৃথিবীতে ছড়িয়ে আছ।
[20] And among His Signs is this, that He created you (Adam) from dust, and then [Hawwa’ (Eve) from Adam’s rib, and then his offspring from the semen, and], – behold you are human beings scattered!
