[21] يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشاءُ وَيَرحَمُ مَن يَشاءُ ۖ وَإِلَيهِ تُقلَبونَ
[21] তিনি যাকে ইচ্ছা শাস্তি দেন এবং যার প্রতি ইচ্ছা রহমত করেন। তাঁরই দিকে তোমরা প্রত্যাবর্তিত হবে।
[21] He punishes whom He wills, and shows mercy to whom He wills, and to Him you will be returned.

[22] وَما أَنتُم بِمُعجِزينَ فِى الأَرضِ وَلا فِى السَّماءِ ۖ وَما لَكُم مِن دونِ اللَّهِ مِن وَلِىٍّ وَلا نَصيرٍ
[22] তোমরা স্থলে ও অন্তরীক্ষে আল্লাহকে অপারগ করতে পারবে না এবং আল্লাহ ব্যতীত তোমাদের কোন হিতাকাঙ্খী নেই, সাহায্যকারীও নেই।
[22] And you cannot escape in the earth or in the heaven (from Allah). And besides Allâh you have neither any Walî (Protector or Guardian) nor any Helper.

[23] وَالَّذينَ كَفَروا بِـٔايٰتِ اللَّهِ وَلِقائِهِ أُولٰئِكَ يَئِسوا مِن رَحمَتى وَأُولٰئِكَ لَهُم عَذابٌ أَليمٌ
[23] যারা আল্লাহর আয়াত সমূহ ও তাঁর সাক্ষাত অস্বীকার করে, তারাই আমার রহমত থেকে নিরাশ হবে এবং তাদের জন্যেই যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তি রয়েছে।
[23] And those who disbelieve in the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allâh and the Meeting with Him, it is they who have no hope of My Mercy, and it is they who will have a painful torment.

[24] فَما كانَ جَوابَ قَومِهِ إِلّا أَن قالُوا اقتُلوهُ أَو حَرِّقوهُ فَأَنجىٰهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ النّارِ ۚ إِنَّ فى ذٰلِكَ لَءايٰتٍ لِقَومٍ يُؤمِنونَ
[24] তখন ইব্রাহীমের সম্প্রদায়ের এছাড়া কোন জওয়াব ছিল না যে তারা বলল, তাকে হত্যা কর অথবা অগ্নিদগ্ধ কর। অতঃপর আল্লাহ তাকে অগ্নি থেকে রক্ষা করলেন। নিশ্চয় এতে বিশ্বাসী লোকদের জন্যে নিদর্শনাবলী রয়েছে।
[24] So nothing was the answer of [Ibrahîm’s (Abraham)] people except that they said: “Kill him or burn him.” Then Allâh saved him from the fire. Verily, in this are indeed signs for a people who believe

[25] وَقالَ إِنَّمَا اتَّخَذتُم مِن دونِ اللَّهِ أَوثٰنًا مَوَدَّةَ بَينِكُم فِى الحَيوٰةِ الدُّنيا ۖ ثُمَّ يَومَ القِيٰمَةِ يَكفُرُ بَعضُكُم بِبَعضٍ وَيَلعَنُ بَعضُكُم بَعضًا وَمَأوىٰكُمُ النّارُ وَما لَكُم مِن نٰصِرينَ
[25] ইব্রাহীম বললেন, পার্থিব জীবনে তোমাদের পারস্পরিক ভালবাসা রক্ষার জন্যে তোমরা আল্লাহর পরিবর্তে প্রতিমাগুলোকে উপাস্যরূপে গ্রহণ করেছ। এরপর কেয়ামতের দিন তোমরা একে অপরকে অস্বীকার করবে এবং একে অপরকে লানত করবে। তোমাদের ঠিকানা জাহান্নাম এবং তোমাদের কোন সাহায্যকারী নেই।
[25] And [Ibrâhim (Abraham)] said: “You have taken (for worship) idols instead of Allâh, The love between you is only in the life of this world, but on the Day of Resurrection, you shall disown each other, and curse each other, and your abode will be the Fire, and you shall have no helper.”

[26] ۞ فَـٔامَنَ لَهُ لوطٌ ۘ وَقالَ إِنّى مُهاجِرٌ إِلىٰ رَبّى ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ العَزيزُ الحَكيمُ
[26] অতঃপর তার প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করলেন লূত। ইব্রাহীম বললেন, আমি আমার পালনকর্তার উদ্দেশে দেশত্যাগ করছি। নিশ্চয় তিনি পরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়।
[26] So Lut (Lot) believed in him [Ibrâhim’s (Abraham) Message of Islâmic Monotheism]. He [Ibrâhim (Abraham)] said: “I will emigrate for the sake of my Lord. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.”

[27] وَوَهَبنا لَهُ إِسحٰقَ وَيَعقوبَ وَجَعَلنا فى ذُرِّيَّتِهِ النُّبُوَّةَ وَالكِتٰبَ وَءاتَينٰهُ أَجرَهُ فِى الدُّنيا ۖ وَإِنَّهُ فِى الءاخِرَةِ لَمِنَ الصّٰلِحينَ
[27] আমি তাকে দান করলাম ইসহাক ও ইয়াকুব, তাঁর বংশধরদের মধ্যে নবুওয়ত ও কিতাব রাখলাম এবং দুনিয়াতে তাঁকে পুরস্কৃত করলাম। নিশ্চয় পরকালে ও সে সৎলোকদর অন্তর্ভূক্ত হবে।
[27] And We bestowed on him [Ibrâhim (Abraham)], Ishâq (Isaac) and Ya’qûb (Jacob), and we ordained among his offspring Prophethood and the Book [i.e. the Taurât (Torah) (to Mûsa — Moses), the Injeel (Gospel) (to ‘Īsā Jesus), and the Qur’ân (to Muhammad SAW), all from the offspring of Ibrâhim (Abraham)], and We granted him his reward in this world, and verily, in the Hereafter he is indeed among the righteous

[28] وَلوطًا إِذ قالَ لِقَومِهِ إِنَّكُم لَتَأتونَ الفٰحِشَةَ ما سَبَقَكُم بِها مِن أَحَدٍ مِنَ العٰلَمينَ
[28] আর প্রেরণ করেছি লূতকে। যখন সে তার সম্প্রদায়কে বলল, তোমরা এমন অশ্লীল কাজ করছ, যা তোমাদের পূর্বে পৃথিবীর কেউ করেনি।
[28] And (remember) Lut (Lot), when he said to his people: “You commit Al-Fâhishah (sodomy the worst sin) which none has preceded you in (committing) it in the ‘Alamîn (mankind and jinn).”

[29] أَئِنَّكُم لَتَأتونَ الرِّجالَ وَتَقطَعونَ السَّبيلَ وَتَأتونَ فى ناديكُمُ المُنكَرَ ۖ فَما كانَ جَوابَ قَومِهِ إِلّا أَن قالُوا ائتِنا بِعَذابِ اللَّهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصّٰدِقينَ
[29] তোমরা কি পুংমৈথুনে লিপ্ত আছ, রাহাজানি করছ এবং নিজেদের মজলিসে গর্হিত কর্ম করছ? জওয়াবে তাঁর সম্প্রদায় কেবল একথা বলল, আমাদের উপর আল্লাহর আযাব আন যদি তুমি সত্যবাদী হও।
[29] “Verily, you practise sodomy with men, and rob the wayfarer (travellers)! And practise Al-Munkar (disbelief and polytheism and every kind of evil wicked deed) in your meetings.” But his people gave no answer except, that they said: “Bring Allâh’s Torment upon us if you are one of the truthful.”

[30] قالَ رَبِّ انصُرنى عَلَى القَومِ المُفسِدينَ
[30] সে বলল, হে আমার পালনকর্তা, দুস্কৃতকারীদের বিরুদ্ধে আমাকে সাহায্য কর।
[30] He said: “My Lord! Give me victory over the people who are Mufsidûn (those who commit great crimes and sins, oppressors, tyrants, mischief-makers, corrupters).

[31] وَلَمّا جاءَت رُسُلُنا إِبرٰهيمَ بِالبُشرىٰ قالوا إِنّا مُهلِكوا أَهلِ هٰذِهِ القَريَةِ ۖ إِنَّ أَهلَها كانوا ظٰلِمينَ
[31] যখন আমার প্রেরিত ফেরেশতাগণ সুসংবাদ নিয়ে ইব্রাহীমের কাছে আগমন করল, তখন তারা বলল, আমরা এই জনপদের অধিবাসীদেরকে ধ্বংস করব। নিশ্চয় এর অধিবাসীরা জালেম।
[31] And when Our Messengers came to Ibrâhim (Abraham) with the glad tidings they said: “Verily, we are going to destroy the people of this [Lut’s (Lot’s)] town (i.e. the town of Sodom in Palestine); truly, its people have been Zâlimûn [wrong-doers, polytheists, disobedient to Allâh, and who belied their Messenger Lut (Lot)].”

[32] قالَ إِنَّ فيها لوطًا ۚ قالوا نَحنُ أَعلَمُ بِمَن فيها ۖ لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُ وَأَهلَهُ إِلَّا امرَأَتَهُ كانَت مِنَ الغٰبِرينَ
[32] সে বলল, এই জনপদে তো লূতও রয়েছে। তারা বলল, সেখানে কে আছে, তা আমরা ভাল জানি। আমরা অবশ্যই তাকে ও তাঁর পরিবারবর্গকে রক্ষা করব তাঁর স্ত্রী ব্যতীত; সে ধ্বংসপ্রাপ্তদের অন্তর্ভূক্ত থাকবে।
[32] Ibrâhim (Abraham) said: “But there is Lut (Lot) in it.” They said:”We know better who is there, we will verily save him [Lut (Lot)] and his family, except his wife, she will be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed along with those who will be destroyed from her folk).”

[33] وَلَمّا أَن جاءَت رُسُلُنا لوطًا سيءَ بِهِم وَضاقَ بِهِم ذَرعًا وَقالوا لا تَخَف وَلا تَحزَن ۖ إِنّا مُنَجّوكَ وَأَهلَكَ إِلَّا امرَأَتَكَ كانَت مِنَ الغٰبِرينَ
[33] যখন আমার প্রেরিত ফেরেশতাগণ লূতের কাছে আগমন করল, তখন তাদের কারণে সে বিষন্ন হয়ে পড়ল এবং তার মন সংকীর্ণ হয়ে গেল। তারা বলল, ভয় করবেন না এবং দুঃখ করবেন না। আমরা আপনাকে ও আপনার পরিবারবর্গকে রক্ষা করবই আপনার স্ত্রী ব্যতীত, সে ধ্বংস প্রাপ্তদের অন্তর্ভূক্ত থাকবে।
[33] And when Our Messengers came to Lut (Lot), he was grieved because of them, and felt straitened on their account. They said: “Have no fear, and do not grieve! Truly, we shall save you and your family, except your wife, she will be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed along with those who will be destroyed from her folk).

[34] إِنّا مُنزِلونَ عَلىٰ أَهلِ هٰذِهِ القَريَةِ رِجزًا مِنَ السَّماءِ بِما كانوا يَفسُقونَ
[34] আমরা এই জনপদের অধিবাসীদের উপর আকাশ থেকে আযাব নাজিল করব তাদের পাপাচারের কারণে।
[34] Verily, we are about to bring down on the people of this town a great torment from the sky, because they have been rebellious (against Allâh’s Command).”

[35] وَلَقَد تَرَكنا مِنها ءايَةً بَيِّنَةً لِقَومٍ يَعقِلونَ
[35] আমি বুদ্ধিমান লোকদের জন্যে এতে একটি স্পষ্ট নিদর্শন রেখে দিয়েছি।
[35] And indeed We have left thereof an evident Ayâh (a lesson and a warning and a sign — the place where the Dead Sea is now in Palestine) for a folk who understand.

[36] وَإِلىٰ مَديَنَ أَخاهُم شُعَيبًا فَقالَ يٰقَومِ اعبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَارجُوا اليَومَ الءاخِرَ وَلا تَعثَوا فِى الأَرضِ مُفسِدينَ
[36] আমি মাদইয়ানবাসীদের প্রতি তাদের ভাই শোআয়বকে প্রেরণ করেছি। সে বলল, হে আমার সম্প্রদায় তোমরা আল্লাহর এবাদত কর, শেষ দিবসের আশা রাখ এবং পৃথিবীতে অনর্থ সৃষ্টি করো না।
[36] And to (the people of) Madyan (Midian), We sent their brother Shu’aib (Shuaib). He said: “O my people! Worship Allâh, and hope for (the reward of good deeds by worshipping Allâh Alone, on) the last Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection), and commit no mischief on the earth as Mufsidûn (those who commit great crimes, oppressors, tyrants, mischief-makers, corrupters).

[37] فَكَذَّبوهُ فَأَخَذَتهُمُ الرَّجفَةُ فَأَصبَحوا فى دارِهِم جٰثِمينَ
[37] কিন্তু তারা তাঁকে মিথ্যাবাদী বলল; অতঃপর তারা ভূমিকম্প দ্বারা আক্রান্ত হল এবং নিজেদের গৃহে উপুড় হয়ে পড়ে রইল।
[37] And they belied him (Shu’aib); so the earthquake seized them, and they lay (dead), prostrate in their dwellings.

[38] وَعادًا وَثَمودَا۟ وَقَد تَبَيَّنَ لَكُم مِن مَسٰكِنِهِم ۖ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيطٰنُ أَعمٰلَهُم فَصَدَّهُم عَنِ السَّبيلِ وَكانوا مُستَبصِرينَ
[38] আমি আ’দ ও সামুদকে ধ্বংস করে দিয়েছি। তাদের বাড়ী-ঘর থেকেই তাদের অবস্থা তোমাদের জানা হয়ে গেছে। শয়তান তাদের কর্মকে তাদের দৃষ্টিতে সুশোভিত করেছিল, অতঃপর তাদেরকে সৎপথ অবলম্বনে বাধা দিয়েছিল এবং তারা ছিল হুশিয়ার।
[38] And ‘Ad and Thamûd (people)! And indeed (their destruction) is clearly apparent to you from their (ruined) dwellings. Shaitân (Satan) made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and turned them away from the (Right) Path, though they were intelligent.

[39] وَقٰرونَ وَفِرعَونَ وَهٰمٰنَ ۖ وَلَقَد جاءَهُم موسىٰ بِالبَيِّنٰتِ فَاستَكبَروا فِى الأَرضِ وَما كانوا سٰبِقينَ
[39] আমি কারুন, ফেরাউন ও হামানকে ধ্বংস করেছি। মূসা তাদের কাছে সুস্পষ্ট নিদর্শনাবলী নিয়ে আগমন করেছিল অতঃপর তারা দেশে দম্ভ করেছিল। কিন্তু তারা জিতে যায়নি।
[39] And (We destroyed also) Qârûn (Korah), Fir’aun (Pharaoh), and Hâmân. And indeed Mûsa (Moses) came to them with clear Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), but they were arrogant in the land, yet they could not outstrip Us (escape Our punishment).

[40] فَكُلًّا أَخَذنا بِذَنبِهِ ۖ فَمِنهُم مَن أَرسَلنا عَلَيهِ حاصِبًا وَمِنهُم مَن أَخَذَتهُ الصَّيحَةُ وَمِنهُم مَن خَسَفنا بِهِ الأَرضَ وَمِنهُم مَن أَغرَقنا ۚ وَما كانَ اللَّهُ لِيَظلِمَهُم وَلٰكِن كانوا أَنفُسَهُم يَظلِمونَ
[40] আমি প্রত্যেককেই তার অপরাধের কারণে পাকড়াও করেছি। তাদের কারও প্রতি প্রেরণ করেছি প্রস্তরসহ প্রচন্ড বাতাস, কাউকে পেয়েছে বজ্রপাত, কাউকে আমি বিলীন করেছি ভূগর্ভে এবং কাউকে করেছি নিমজ্জত। আল্লাহ তাদের প্রতি যুলুম করার ছিলেন না; কিন্তু তারা নিজেরাই নিজেদের প্রতি যুলুম করেছে।
[40] So We punished each (of them) for his sins, of them were some on whom We sent Hâsib (a violent wind with shower of stones) [as on the people of Lut (Lot)], and of them were some who were overtaken by As¬Saihah [torment – awful cry, (as Thamûd or Shu’aib’s people)], and of them were some whom We caused the earth to swallow [as Qârûn (Korah)], and of them were some whom We drowned [as the people of Nûh (Noah), or Fir’aun (Pharaoh) and his people]. It was not Allâh Who wronged them, but they wronged themselves.
